Kosovo, a country with great traditions well preserved byzantine churches and ottoman mosques,is not be missed.

Overview:

Our trip offers a variety of activities to give you the opportunity to experience Albania’s and Kosovo’s natural beauty and rich culture. You will embark on a biking trip from Rubik – Kallmet,enjoy  sightseeing of the old part of  Shkoder and visit the Rozafa Castle; experience  a boat ride on Komani Lake and witness the spectacular views of the canyon created by the lake and the surrounding peaks with enroute stops at the canyon of Shoshan and the cave of Dragobia.  Next your journey will take you to Kosovo. You will visit Gjakova and take a walk through its old bazaar- one of the longest in the Balkan; you will explore  Prizren, known for its Ottoman architecture and beautiful mosques. You will continue to discover the country’s rich culture in Kruje and Berat by visiting the old bazaar and Scanderbeg castle, the castle of Berat, Etnographic Museum, Onufri Museum, King Mosque and Church of Saint Mary. You will explore the canyons of Skrapari and enjoy a thrilling rafting adventure before returning to Tirana. On your last day in Tirana, you will enjoy sightseeing of the capital.

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1: Rinas Airport - Tirana (D)

The group arrives at the airport and is welcomed by our tour leader. Next we will be transferred to Tirana where after a short break if most of the group members have already arrived we will take a guided walk through Tirana centre.

Overnight: Hotel Kruja or similar

DAY 2: Tirana – Rubik – Vau I Dejës – Shkodër (B, L, D)

Today we start driving toward the city of Rubik from where we will start cycling through the secondary roads heading to the city of Lezha and beyond. In the small village of Kallmet there is a possibility to visit a small winery. 

Cycling from Rubik – Kallmet (Vau i Dejes) is 42 km and the duration is 3-4 hours.

After that we cycle to the agritourist farm Mrizi I Zanave for lunch.

After lunch we can decide either to resume cycling or drive to the city of Shkodra. In the afternoon we will take a guided walk of the city of Shkodra as well.

Overnight: Hotel Colosseo or similar.

Activities included: Cycling through the secondary roads from Rubik to Shkodra

DAY 3: Shkodra – Koman Lake - Valbonë (B, L, D)

Breakfast in hotel. Today we will enjoy sailing through Komani lake for 2 hours. This boat trip is considered to be one of the best attractions in Albania and the view compared to Scandinavian fjords.  Next we continue to Bujan village where we visit the tower of Mic Sokoli, a typical North Albanian tower.

During the way to Valbona we make some short breaks in some natural attractions like the canyon of Shoshan, the cave of Dragobia etc. On the afternoon we can take a guided 2 hour walk through the Valley.

Dinner and overnight in Margjeka hotel or similar.

Activities included: Sailing in Komani Lake for 2 hours, walking, visiting Mic Sokoli tower, canyon of Shoshan, cave of Dragobia.

DAY 4: Valbone - Gjakove–Prizren (Kosovo) (B, L, D)

Breakfast in Valbonë. Today we start with a leisurely walk through Valbona Valley. Next, we pass the border to Kosovo the first town we visit is Gjakova. There, we will have a walk through its old bazaar, one of the longest in the Balkan, a beautiful testimony of Ottoman Architecture and have lunch as well. The next city to visit is Prizren very well known for its beautiful mosques and churches. During the Ottoman period it was one of the most important centres of Kosovo Vilayet. It is one of the few cities in Kosovo to have 3 religious communities cohabiting together (Catholic, Orthodox, and Muslim). 

Overnight: Hotel Centrum Prizren or similar

Activities included: walking, visiting old bazaar, mosques and churches, monument of Albanian National Weakening.

DAY 5: Prizren (Kosovo) –Kruje - Berat (B, L, D)

Breakfast in Prizren. Driving to the ancient town of Kruja where we visit the old bazaar the Scanderbeg Castle. Scanderbeg is the national hero, a medieval figure who fought with Ottoman Turks for 25 years. Drive to Berat UNESCO heritage where we visit the inhabited castle, the Ethnographic museum and other attractions.

Overnight in Mangalemi or similar.

Activities: Visiting old bazaar and Scanderbeg castle, the castle of Berat, Etnographic Museum, King Mosque.

DAY 6: Full Day Berat (B, L, D)

Today we are going to explore the canyons of Skrapari and enjoy rafting.Upon completing drive back to Berat enjoying the amazing views of the old city by night.

Activities :rafting ( subject to water level and  weather conditions) or  explore on foot the canyons of Skrapari, visiting old part of the city by night, Mangalemi and Gorica quartiers.

Overnight Berat

DAY 7: Full day Tirana (B, L, D)

Breakfast in hotel. Driving to Tirana. Sightseeing Tirana, visiting the National History Museum, Et’hem Bey Mosque (1830), the pyramid etc. In the afternoon we visit Mount Dajti via cable car the longest in Balkan and enjoy a panoramic view of Tirana.

Activities:   Sightseeing Tirana, Entrance in Et’hem Bey Mosque, visit the Mount Dajti via cable car.

Overnight: Hotel Kruja

DAY 8: Tirana –Airport 18 km (30 min) (B)

Breakfast in Tirana. Departure from Tirana.
