Live a unique lifetime experience exploring the top two tourist attractions in Peru: hiking the Inca trail to the ancient Royal city of Machu Picchu and Tambopata Reserve, one of the world’s richest biologically diverse ecosystems, located in the Peruvian Amazon basin!

You will enjoy your private tour of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and the most beautiful archaeological site of the Americas. During your jungle experience you will stay at the comfortable Hacienda Concepcion Lodge, you will enjoy the endangered giant river otters while sailing across Lake Sandoval.


  • Peru is located on South America’s central Pacific coast. The world’s twentieth-largest nation, Peru is bordered on the north by Ecuador and Colombia, on the east by Brazil, on the southeast by Bolivia, on the south by Chile, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.
  • Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru. It was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535 as la Ciudad de los Reyes, or “the City of Kings.
  • Cusco sits over 11,000 feet above sea level in the heart of the Andes. This Peruvian city is widely considered the archaeological capital of the Americas thanks to its incredible mix of colonial and ancient Incan architecture. Once the center of the Inca Empire, Cuzco remains a mecca of sorts for adventure-minded travelers touring South America. Cuzco’s stunning mountain setting, traditional handicrafts and vibrant festivals make it an absolutely essential destination for tourists visiting Peru.
  • Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Incan site located on a ridge between the Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountains in Peru. It sits 7,970 feet (2,430 meters) above sea level on the eastern slope of the Andes and overlooks the Urubamba River hundreds of feet below. The site’s excellent preservation, the quality of its architecture, and the breathtaking mountain vista it occupies has made Machu Picchu one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world today.
  • The Peruvian Amazon is the area of the Amazon jungle included within the country of Peru, from east of the Andes to borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Bolivia. This region comprises 60% of the country and is marked by a large degree of biodiversity. Peru has the second largest portion of the Amazon rain forest after the Brazilian Amazon.


Day 01: Lima

Upon arrival at Lima airport, you will be welcomed by a Rahhalah guide and driven to your hotel in Miraflores.

Overnight in Lima at Casa Andina Classic Miraflores Centro – Traditional Room or similar.

*Lima city is located at an altitude of 80 meters (262 ft) above sea level.

Day 02: Lima Private city Tour (B)

After breakfast, you will be driven to the city of the Kings where you will see beautiful monuments Colonial Palaces, Colonial houses adorned with Moorish-style balconies, Plaza San Martin, Plaza de Armas, the baroque cathedral, Palacio de Gobierno (Governors Palace), the Archbishop’s Palace with its big carved wooden balconies, and the convent of San Francisco which houses the largest collection of religious art in the Americas. Underneath the convent lie extensive catacombs that served as the cemetery during the colonial period!

Day 03: Flight Lima - Puerto Maldonado – Refugio Amazonas (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will be driven to Lima airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado

Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to Posada Amazonas headquarters (10 minute ride). While enjoying your first taste of the forest in the gardens you will be asked to pack only the necessary gear for your next few days, and leave the rest of your luggage in a safe deposit. This helps to keep the boats light.

Skirting Puerto Maldonado, we drive 20 kilometers to the Tambopata River Port, entering the Native Community of Infierno. The port is a communal business.

Tambopata River Port to Refugio Amazonas: you will have a 2 ½ hour boat ride to Refugio Amazonas located in Tambopata National Reserve.


Upon arrival, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips.

Caiman Search After dinner we will walk by the river’s edge scanning the shores with headlamps and flashlights to catch the red gleams of reflection from caiman eyes.

Overnight in Tambopata at Refugio Amazonas Eco-Lodge – Rainforest Comfort Room

Day 04: Oxbow Lake - Canopy Tower - Ethnobotanical Tour (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will paddle around the lake on a canoe or a catamaran, looking for lakeside wildlife such as hoatzin, caiman and horned screamers, hoping to see otters and macaws.

A thirty minute walk from Refugio Amazonas leads to the 25 meter scaffolding canopy tower. The tower has been built upon high ground, therefore increasing your horizon of the continuous primary forest extending out towards the Tambopata National Reserve.  From here you will see toucans, macaws and raptors.

After lunch, we will visit a farm owned and managed by Don Manuel from the community of Condenado. He grows a variety of popular and unknown Amazon crops.

Late afternoon we will have an ethno botanical tour and learn about the variety of plants and trees that are used by the local population as medicine like Ajo-Sacha, Yuca de Venado, Uña de Gato, Charcot-Sacha, Para-Para, among several others.

After dinner, there will be a presentation about ecotourism projects in Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 05: Refugio Amazonas - Puerto Maldonado. Flight Puerto Maldonado – Cusco ( B)

We retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures.

Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Cusco.

Upon arrival at Cusco airport you will be transferred to your hotel located in the center of Cusco.

You have a free afternoon to acclimatize and adjust to the altitude.

In the evening, you will have your pre-trek departure briefing with your Inca trail guide.

Day 06: Cusco private City Tour (B)

This morning, your private driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel to show the beautiful Inca city of Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; you will visit not only the most beautiful pre-Columbian buildings but also the wonderful Inca Ruins located on the outskirts of Cusco city.

Tour highlights: Koricancha temple, Cusco Cathedral, Sacsayhuaman, Q’enko, Tambomachay, PucaPucara.

After lunch, you will be driven to San Judas Chico girls’ house and share playing-time with the girls and some sweets and biscuits.

Day 7: Cusco - Km 82 – Ayapata (B, L, D)

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven through the Sacred Valley to the trailhead at Km 82, the starting point of the Inca Trail where our crew of Quechua Porters will be waiting for us to set off on our lifetime adventure in the ancient Inca trail to Machu Picchu.

Our first day starts crossing the Urubamba River; we pass through eucalyptus groves and giant corn fields while enjoying amazing views of the Vilcanota mountain range and the snow-capped peak Veronica. After some hike we reach a massive Inca site called Llaqtapata, a complex of agricultural terraces, then we continue hiking to the small valley of Hatunchaca where our cook serves our lunch.

After lunch, we continue hiking to Ayapata our campsite for tonight, on the way we pass by the community of Huayllabamba.

Day 8: Ayapata - Warmiwañusca Pass – Chaquicocha (B, L, D)

Our second day starts with a consistent breakfast and a beautiful Andean dawn!

Today we must reach the highest point of our trek, Warmiwañusca pass situated at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet) above sea level.

As soon as we start hiking through dense forestthe trail starts to climb slowly, we stop atLlulluchapampa,the guide tells us the story of this place. The trail climbs steeply,after some hours of hard work, we reach the highest point of the Inca trail,Warmiwañusca Pass (The dead Woman Pass)situated at an altitude of 4,200 meters (13,776 feet) above sea level. Despite the strong cold winds, you will enjoy having a short break at the summit and the stunning views of peaks and valleys. We start descending gradually through a rock trail to reach the valley of Pacaymayo, where our cook has our lunch ready.

After lunch wehead to Runkurakay ruins, a construction to rest during Inca times used by Incan Couriers. The trail continues to climb toward Runkurakay pass situated at 3,850 meters (12,630 feet) above sea level, from the summit, we have spectacular views of the snow peaks of Pumasillo range; on the way to our next campsite we pass by the Inca Complex of Sayaqmarka, Inca houses with terraces and aqueducts, finally we reach our camp site in Chaquicocha, we will have our tents already set up by our Quechua Porters.

Day 9: Chaquicocha – Wiñaywayna (B,L, D)

After breakfast, we head to Wiñaywayna,the most spectacular archaeological complex of the entire Inca Trail.

On the way we pass through a green tunnel formed by the forest and enjoy the beautiful orchids; definitely, it is so impressive how the Incas built these roads along the mountains and rainforest.

After some hike, we visit one of the most impressive Incas’ sites, the archaeological center of Phuyupatamarka situated at 3,572 meters (11,722 feet) above the sea level.

Finally, we camp near Wiñaywayna situated at 2,691 meters above the sea level (8,829 feet)

Day 10: Wiñaywayna - Sun gate - Machu Picchu (B, L)

After a very early wake up, we start our way to Inti Punku (The Sun Gate) where we are rewarded with the most beautiful view of Machu Picchu!

Finally, we achieve our goal! We reach Machu Picchu and feel that all the great effort we put up during our hike was worth it.Average hiking time: three hours

We have a guided tour of this impressive Inca city and learn about the history of this site, who lived here, how it was discovered in modern times and why the Spaniards never found it.   You will have some insight into the various features of this sacred city and have free time to really enjoy yourself alone in this spectacularly located site, an unforgettable experience that will stay with you forever!

12:30 p.m. Buffet lunch at Tinkuy Restaurant located at the Sanctuary Lodge.

P.m. Bus journey to AguasCalientes

Day 11: AguasCalientes – Machu Picchu (B, L)

07:00 am: climb Huayna Picchu Mountain.

Afternoon train journey on board the Vista dome train from Machu Picchu to Cusco.

Upon arrival at Cusco train station, you will be driven to your hotel.

Day 12: Flight Cusco –Lima (B)
