Greenland is a massive island and autonomous Danish territory between the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans. Much of its land surface is covered in ice. Most of its small population lives along the ice-free, fjord-lined coast, particularly in the southwest.
This remarkable trip will take you to Nuuk, Greenland and offer you an incredible, memorable experience. The focus of this trip is for you to get out and experience the grand Greenlandic nature, wildlife and beautiful icebergs. You will explore Colourful Nuuk; embark on an ascent to one of the most emblematic peaks that dominates the area of Qooqqut, at the summit you will enjoy the unbeaten views of the fiord system that surrounds Nuuk and probably one of the most beautiful area for trekking in Greenland; you wil sail to Kapisillit to visit the only settlement inside the fiord, with 75 inhabitants; you will have a fantastic opportunity to experience the fishermen and hunters traditional way of live and learn about their culture;finally enjoy a thrilling Helicopter ride – a lifetime experience that will give you the most beautiful views of Greenland, the endless wild nature and mountain peaks.

Day 1: Arrival Nuuk
When you arrive to Colourful Nuuk you will be greeted by Rahhalah representative and smoothly taken to your accommodation in Nuuk.
When we arrive to your designated accommodation, we will assist with the check in and appr. 45 mins after check in we will meet for a cup of coffee or drink to go over the program for the next 5 days. If you are feeling energetic enough, we will take you to on a practical walk-about in Nuuk, to show where the post office, bank, best restaurants and cutest cafes can be found.
Nuuk is the capital and largest city of Greenland. It is the seat of government and the country’s largest cultural and economic centre. The major cities, outside of Greenland, closest to the capital are Iqaluit and St. John’s in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland. Nuuk contains almost a third of Greenland’s population, currently just over 17.000 people.
The day will end back at your accommodation.
Day 2: Explore Nuuk (B)
Day 2 will start nice and easy. Before lunch we will take you on a tour in our own little bus with guide. The tour will start in the modern part of Nuuk, Qinngorput, and will end in the old colonial harbour. In between we will go back through history, starting in the modern suburp of Qinngorput going through Nuussuaq and the 1970’s roug-houses and apartments, then going through the older but also modern downtown, the Herenhut history, hospital and finally the old colonial harbour with Hans Egede’s house.
This tour is perfect as an introduction to Nuuk and will help you understand more of the people and the history of Nuuk and Greenland. Nuuk was the first place of the modern colonization.
Preparing for our departure into the fjord. Guided shopping will be available in case any travelers will need to by extra equipment.

Day 03: Ascent to Qaqqarsuaq (1.154 meters from sea to summit) ( B, L, D)
This action-packed day to ascent to one of the most emblematic peaks that dominates the area of Qooqqut, starts with a sail trip from Nuuk to the Timmiannguit bay following Nuuk Fjord and its magnificent peaks (1 hour)
After a refreshment we will start the trek ascending 500 meters along the east ridge of a 550 meters peak with no name situated on the right side of the Timmiannguit river.
From that peak we will surround a small lake to face the summit ridge of Qaqqarsuaq.
After scrambling more than 500 meters on steep terrain, following a technical (but not extreme) route we will reach the top situated at 1.154 meters. From the summit you will enjoy the unbeaten views of the fiord system that surrounds Nuuk and probably one of the most beautiful area for trekking in Greenland.
The ascent route is almost 6 kms and it takes 4 hours. To descent we use the same route (3 hours). Depending on the weather and the group we will have a lunch close to the top.
After the trek, the boat is going to pick up us at the same spot (Timmiannguit bay) and we will sail to Qooqqut (15 minutes) after stopping to catch our own dinner.
In Qooqqut we will check in to overnight in one of the guest huts and enjoy a relax time to discover the area and its history
The restaurant will prepare our fresh fish and other local delicatessen to recover our energy after an intensive day.

Day 04: Visit to Kapisillit and hike to the Icefiord ( B,L)
After having breakfast in the restaurant we will check-out and sail to Kapisillit (1 hour) to visit the only settlement inside the fiord, with 75 inhabitants.
This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the fishermen and hunters traditional way of live and learn about their culture.
After a walk around the settlement we will sail to the bottom of Kapisillit bay to make a trek through an easy terrain to the Icefjord (1h), from the coast you will enjoy an unreal view of the sea totally pack with icebergs and the front line of the Glacier and the Ice Cap in the horizon.
On this privileged spot we will enjoy a grill with Greenlandic lamp.
After the lunch we will hike back to the boat and sail to Nuuk (2,5 hours)

Day 05: Flightseeing & Shopping (B)
Free morning to relax after the hike and stay in the fjord. The guide will be available to show you the best shopping locations for au-thentic souvenirs, Greenlandic fashion or be available for questions in general.
Take a breathtaking helicopter tour from Nuuk to the top of either Sermitsiaq or Kingittorsuaq (Hjortetakken). The tour is a once in a lifetime experience that will give you the most beautiful views of Greenland, the endless wild nature and mountain peeks. On the top of either of the mountains, the helicotper will land in the wild terrain and H’devours will be served with a glass of sparkling wine. From here you can take a moment to take in the scenery and enjoy the unspoiled nature.
Depending on the weather on the day of departure, the trip will either go to the peak of Sermitsaq or Kingittorsuaq. This is to give the traveler the best possible experience.
The flight is completed in an AS-350 Helicopter with highly trained professional pilots – the tour will take appr. 1½ hours.

Day 06: Departure Nuuk (B)
You will be taken to the airport by our professional shuttle in due time for your flight. We will of course assist with the check in to make sure you have a smooth departure.
Depending on your departure time, we will be happy to arrange any additional tours or experiences if time permits it.
