This trip is designed to give to the whole family an unforgettable experience in the wilds of Tanzania. You will embark on an  exciting horse riding adventure ; experience  canoeing and bird watching  in Duluti lake, enjoy full day game drive safari in Tarangire National Park where you will witness the unique landscape, the herds of zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes, dozens of species of birds, and the picturesque sight of lions relaxing in the trees; you will experience local culture from a bike- an easy cycle ride down the Great Rift Valley wall into the farming village of Mto Wa Mbu; next you will explore the Ngorongoro Crater and Manayra National Park – surrounded by the natural wonders around you as well as the exceptional wildlife, roaming freely, with which you share this extraordinary paradise. Most of Rahhalah’s ground handlers and safari guides are locally employed ensuring more authentic experience for travelers, as well as sensitivity to local customs and cultures.

Our local guides are highly experienced and nature simply has no secret for them. All of them have extensive knowledge and training in first aid administration and communication. We have first class drivers; the cooks are among the best in preparing delicious local and international meals.

Our safari is educative, you learn by going. Our trip leaders teach you to spot and identify game as well as track animals. You begin to see with new eyes. You become more curious and observant about animal behaviors, and you begin to understand how all the pieces of the ecosystem fit together. By the time you fly out of Africa you would be highly educated.

ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival Kilimanjaro ( D)

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, our representative will meet you and drive you to your hotel for a first evening in Tanzania. Arusha is a major international diplomatic hub. The city hosts and is regarded as the de facto capital of the East African Community.

Arusha is surrounded by some of Africa’s most famous landscapes and national parks.

Situated below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, it has a mild climate.

Day 02: Usa River ( B, D) Horse riding

We offer morning and afternoon rides, 2-hour ride (depending on pace). The morning rides departs at 09.30AM and the afternoon rides departs at 15.30PM. We are flexible with time however these are the best hours of the day to be out in the bush on horseback.

The ride takes place on nearby Dolly Estate and whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced rider, there is an opportunity and experience for everyone. Those with little riding experience can enjoy a gentle hack along dusty tracks where wildebeest and antelopes graze contentedly. Led by experienced guides, one can explore the meandering paths, spotting a rich array of wildlife along your way. Regularly seen on Dolly estate is one of the most elegant mammals found in Tanzania, the Gerenuk. Each safari is led by qualified and professionally trained guides, always pushing for a new and exhilarating adventure. Whether you would like to unfold Africa’s beauty by horseback or by foot, Kaskazi will share its enthusiasm and tell stories that will travel generations. The routes are off the beaten track and with a vast knowledge about the countries fauna and flora, we go deep into the bush and together enjoy the wonders that Africa has to offer, the magnificent wildlife, the scenery and the magical interaction with the local tribes who inhabit these areas. All this viewed from what back in the days also used to roam wild, the horse.

Canoeing & Bird Watching Activities:

Duluti is a small volcanic lake of stunning beauty, and its forested crater walls are a sanctuary to over 130 different bird species. Canoeing across its smooth surface is a soothing and special way of taking in the wildlife in the overarching trees and the breath-taking scenes of Mt Meru. This trip is especially striking in the late afternoon when hundreds of Cattle Egrets come down to the lake to roost for the night.

Day 03: Arusha City - Tarangire National Park ( B, L, D)

Early morning you will be picked up from your hotel and drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing and photographing. Named after the river that flows through the park, Tarangire National Park is one of the lesser known Tanzanian National Parks, giving it a real air of undiscovered Africa.

Famous for its tree climbing pythons, massive baobabs and large herds of elephant,Tarangire National Park is small but still home to a significant wildlife population, with a density of wildlife matched only by Ngorongoro. Birding is particularly good here; the swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties; the most breeding species in one habitat.

Today is committed to a full day game drive safari in Tarangire National Park. Imagine hundreds of zebra stripes reflecting in still waters. Imagine the looming silhouette of elephants burnt into the crimson sunset. Imagine the sight of ghostly baobab trees scattered across shimmering grasslands. These features are not figments of imagination – these features are just a taste of what Tarangire is all about!

The most spectacular feature of Tarangire is that it serves as a place of refuge for the largest elephant population in northern Tanzania.Elephant viewing in Tarangire is outstanding and it is likely that you will see hundreds of elephants in a single day. Set against stunning scenery, elephant viewing will undoubtedly prove to be one of the biggest highlights for a safari in Tarangire. Day 04: Mto wa Mbu - Maasai Village – Karatu ( B,D)

Mto wa Mbu is situated on the way to the national parks in northern Tanzania, just at the foot of Rift Valley. Cycling gives you a good sense of life in Africa and can be a welcome break from being in your vehicle. Our bicycle rides are designed to give you both a wildlife and cultural experience with the possibility of ending your bike ride with a local lunch. Experienced guides lead all tours. All bikes are good quality  and a back up team will accompany you should anything go wrong.

An easy cycle ride down the Great Rift Valley wall into the farming village of Mto Wa Mbu.Experience local cultures from the bike. Ride through some of the Manyara ground water forest and between small herds of wildlife on the lake shore.

Today you will visit Mto wa Mbu, where a lot of indigenous Tanzanian tribes co-exist peacefully. Walking is at a leisurely pace to enable you to interact with the beautiful and friendly faces of the village residents. You will visit the school and meet the children,visit the hospital and the village bar. Afterwards you can enjoy a deliciously flavored local lunch prepared for you by a local resident.

Day 05: Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu ( B, L, D)

Today, you will visit the Ngorongoro crater, the main feature is a large, unbroken,unfolded volcanic caldera. The crater, which formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some two to three million years ago, is 610m (2,000 ft.) deep and its floor covers 260 km² (100 sq. mi). The crater floor is mostly open grassland with two small wooded areas dominated by Acacia xanthophloea.

Game drives through the Ngorongoro Crater begin early in the morning in closed safari vehicles with pop – up roofs. Accompanied by an expert driver guide, a magnificent experience is sure to be had! The descent into the crater is one of scenic beauty, as you make your way through lush forests, home to numerous elephants and buffalo.

As you reach the inside of the Ngorongoro Crater, marvelling at the incredible landscape around you, your guide will take you through the grassy crater floor, the unbelievable fever tree forest, the banks of Lake Magadi and the surrounding marshes. Lunch is served picnic style

Day 06: Lake Manyara National Park - Usa River ( B, L, D)

Today, we will explore the beautiful and diverse Lake Manyara National Park. Stretching for 50km along the base of the rusty-gold 600-metre high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”.

From the entrance gate, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk cacophonously in the high canopy.

Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. An activities for 45$ extra would be to walk on the tree top through a rope bridge. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants and

storks.

You will stop for a picnic lunch at one of the picnic sites in the park where you will enjoy the fresh air of the African nature as you savour your meal. After lunch you will begin your drive out of the park and you will be driven back to Arusha stopping for souvenir shopping along the way arriving at your hotel for dinner & overnight.

Day 07: Usa River - Kilimanjaro International Airport ( B, L)

Leave your villa behind and discover the unprecedented golf course right on your doorstep. With spectacular all-round views, the course is undoubtedly one of the leading golf courses on the African continent. It actually is been listed in the “Top 10 Best golf courses of Africa”, even before all 18 holes are open. The children will enjoy a guided bird watching tour around the private estate where they will be able to spot some of the birds and wild animals around.

You will return to your Villa where you will enjoy some freshly prepared lunch before checking out and heading back to Kilimanjaro Airport for your international flight back home.
