Day 01

  • Arrival at Anchorage (D)

    Upon your arrival at Anchorage, a Rahhalah representative will welcome you and escort you to your hotel, where you will meet with your guide and have a briefing over the agenda of the next days.

Day 02

7th June 19
  • Anchorage- Matanuska Glacier (B, L)

    Today you are in for a treat!After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Matanuska Glacier: a frozen, 27-mile-long river of ancient ice, tucked into the Matanuska Valley. You will spend over 2 hours there with a specialized guide by your side, exploring blue meltwater pools, ice formations, and deep crevasses, whilelearning about the origins of the glacier and how it affected the surrounding landscape.Walking on ice is fun but slippery so you will be equipped with a helmet, a walking stick, and micro-spikes that attach to your shoes. Although you will receive more details in your gear list, you may wish to note from now that you will need to bring sturdy footwear (hiking shoes, waterproof shoes, boots), an extra pair of socks, and maybe gaiters as your shoes and clothes will become dirty with the glacial’s mud. At the end of the hike, you will enjoy a well-earned lunch on some yummy Alaskan fareat a spot from where you will be able to have panoramic views of the glacier.

Day 03

8th June 19
  • Transfer to Talkeetna (B, L, D)

    After breakfast, you will head north to Talkeetna.On the way, you will stop for lunch at a roadside lodge before visiting a working sled dog kennel.

    At the homestead of Dallas Seavey, you will embark on a musher training adventure. Seavey comes with a lot of expertise, as he wasa four-times Championat Iditarod, among the top three in Norway’s 2018 Finnmarksløpet, the youngest first-place Championat the Yukon Quest, and a former star of NatGeo's Ultimate Survival of Alaska.Under his guidance, prepare to turn from a mere dog sled enthusiast into an experienced musher!
    During this adventure, you will have the opportunity to bond with your dog team while you receive a thorough presentation of the musher’s lifestyle anddialect, as well as an orientation on how to handle the huskies. Then, equipped with the necessary gear, you will ride your custom wheeled sled, putting your newfound knowledge to practice.You will share a wheeled dog sledand a small dog team of approximately 3 Alaskan Huskies in a group of two, launching into a5-mile, self-drive mini expedition through the trails of Talkeetna’s boreal forest.During the first half of your ride, you will guide your four-legged team through the birch trees.Keep all senses alert and watch out for the local wildlife.At an opening, you will stop for a photo against the enchanting backdrop. During the final half of mushing, you will follow the Iditarod trail where you will visit replicas of official Iditarod checkpoints and other highlights of “The Last Great Race on Earth” up until the burled arch of the Finish Line. There will continouslybe a lead and a tail musher to ensure quality, safety, and comfort during your adventure.

    Once you finish, you will head towards the kennel for a tour of the homestead. Alaskan Huskies are powerful athletes known for their affectionate, loyal, and playful personalities -- and their puppies are no different! Try to keep up with the lively, future Iditarod-racing young huskies during your puppy nature walk in a field full of poppies! Make sure to take photos with the future Iditarod Champions before they become famous!

Day 04

  • Flightseeing with Glacier Landing/ Transfer to Denali National Park (B, D)

    Today, after breakfast, you will take to the skies and get a bird’s-eye view of the Denali National Park and Mt. Denali. This one-hour bush-plane experience ensures that everyone has a window seat to marvel at the grandeur of Denali (Mt. McKinley): the tallest mountain of North America and one of the Seven Summits. A real Alaskan bush pilot will tell you about the area as you soar over glaciers, the Don Sheldon amphitheater, blue meltwater pools, and the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier. This tour includes a glacier landing on Denali and about 20-30 minutes of exploration with the pilot.
    You will depart from Talkeetna early in the afternoon to drive up to the Denali National Park.

    At 7pm, you will enjoy a night of fun, festivity and food, getting a taste of old-time Alaska at Cabin Nite Dinner Theater: a popular dinner / performance taking place in an authentic log cabin in the Miners Plaza of Denali Park Village. Join our heroine Fannie Quigley and an unforgettable cast of characters in this true-to-life Gold Rush tale of adventure set in the early 1900s. It is a great mix of colorful storytelling, spirited music, and humor brought to life by talented performers.The All-You-Can-Eat Meal is served family-style and includes Alaskan salmon, barbecue ribs, potatoes, corn, drop biscuits and berry cobbler.

Day 05

10th June 19
  • Denali Adventure Hike (B,L)

    Today your naturalist hiking guide will take you on a 6-hour journey into the Denali area’s backcountry. Away from crowds and maintained trails, you will explore stunning, pristineregions just outside of Denali National Park. Denali is mostly trail-less wilderness which can be intimidating to those not familiar with the local terrain, yet it welcomes those who desire to explore it. During this adventure, you will be introduced towildlife protocol, and you will learn how to identify tracks, flowers, berries and weather patterns while sharing stories on the history and culture of the area. You will also talk about route planning, stream crossings, and finding your way back.

Day 06

11th June 19
  • Denali – Full-Day Bus Tour (B, L)

    Today, you will have the opportunity to experience the Denali Park Highway duringa full-day tour.After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and, during the next 92-miles on the Denali Park Road, you will learn fascinating details and facts about the history and features of the National Park. Keep an eye for the Denali’s Big Five: caribou, moose, bear, dall sheep, and wolves. You will cross braided rivers, spectacular mountain passes and stretches of tundra. Soak up the rainbow-colored view at Polychrome Pass and prepare to hop out at the Eielson Visitor Center for a chance to see Mt. Denali on a clear day.

    Lunch today will be a buffet deli at the exclusive Kantishna Lodge. Before returning to the park entrance, you will have some downtime to gold pan, go on a short, guided hike, or simply enjoy the serenity of nature.

Day 07

12th June 19
  • Alaska's Golden Heart City-Fairbanks (B,L, D)

    Today, after breakfast, you will head to Fairbanks. There, you will have the opportunity to visita world-class 'ice hotel' where you can see pieces of ice art created and maintained for 10+ years! After the Ice Museum, you will enjoy a hearty meal at the Chena Hot Springs Restaurant at which you can also tastevegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and herbs) grown in the local greenhouses of Chena Hot Springs. Afterwards, you can soak in the mineral, healing waters of Chena Hot Springs. Don't forget your swimsuit and towel!

Day 08

    After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flights.
