Detailed Itinerary

Day 01

30th Nov 2019
  • Arrival in Mendoza
    Upon arrival in Mendoza you will be met at the airport by our representative and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure: you can relax or explore the city. Overnight in Mendoza.

Day 02

1st Dec 2019
  • Mendoza (B)
    Today you will have gear check and briefing. You will be assisted as well to get your Aconcagua permit. Overnight in Mendoza.

Day 03

2nd Dec 2019
  • Mendoza – Los Penitentes (2700 m) ( B, D)
    Today you will be transferred to Los Penitentes- a small mountain village. You will spend the night in a hotel in Los Penitentes. Approx duration of driving: 3 hrs

Day 04

3rd Dec 2019
  • Los Penitentes – Confluencia ( 3368 m) ( B, L, D)
    Today morning we will be driven to the gate of Aconcagua Park. Here we will get our climbing permits stamped at the rangers check point and begin the approach to base camp. After a relaxed hike we arrive at our first camp- Confluencia (3368 m). Distance 7km Hours trekking; 4 to 5hours Altitude gain: 440m

Day 05

4th Dec 2019
  • Confluencia – Plaza Francia (4000 m) – Confluencia (B, L, D)
    Today we trek to Plaza Francia -imposing South face of Mt. Aconcagua. From the top we enjoy amazing views of the entire region. The main objective of the day is acclimatization. After the hike we return and spend the night at the first camp. Approx duration of trekking: 6-7 hours, up and down Distance; 6 km. 12 km up and down Altitude gain: 810m

Day 06

5th Dec 2019
  • Confluencia - Plaza de Mulas ( 4300 m) ( B, L, D)
    After a demanding 7 or 9-hour hike we arrive at our well-equipped Base Camp Plaza de Mulas (4300 m). This day, is very long.. We start around 7am,. The first 4 hours, are not to stepp, we cross the famous Playa Ancha, (Wide Beach), it is river valley super wide and dry, to Ibañes rock (lunch time). After Ibañes Rock the treck become more steeper to Colombia Hut ( destroyed since 1990). From Ibañes to Base Camp is not to long but very steep, take 2 hours more... Approx duration of trekking: 7 to 9 hours Distance; 17km Altitude gain: 905m

Day 07

6th Dec 2019
  • Acclimatization and Rest at Plaza de Mulas (4,300 m) (B, L, D)
    Acclimatization day at Base Camp. Most climbers will begin to feel the altitude at this point. Here we will rest, hydrate, acclimatize and enjoy the stunning views.

Day 08

7th Dec 2019
  • Climb Cerro Bonete ( 5050 m) ( B, L, D)
    An acclimatization hike to the Cerro Bonete which offers an incredible view of the West Face of Aconcagua. On the way Bonete we can see and visit the old Hotel Plaza de Mulas, (abandoned since 5 years ago). Approx duration of trekking: 5-6 hours Distance; 6km to the top Altitude gain: 720 m

Day 09

8th Dec 2019
  • Carry equipment day to camp 1 Plaza Canada (5050m)- Back to BC (4200 m) ( B, L, D)
    Today you will climb to the first altitude camp to carry part of the gear and then return back to Plaza de Mulas. Approx duration of trekking: 3-4 hours up and only one hour down Distance; 2km one way Altitude gain : 750m

Day 10

9th Dec 2019
  • Rest and acclimatization at base camp (4300 m) (B, L, D)
    Another day of rest and acclimatization at base camp, before we return to Camp 1 tomorrow.

Day 11

10th Dec 2019
  • Move to Camp I (Plaza de Mulas 4300 m - Plaza Canada 5050 m ) ( B, L, D)
    Today we return to Camp 1 where we spend the night. This time we must each carry all our personal equipment and will not return to Base Camp until after our summit push (unless bad weather). Approx duration of trekking: 3 to 5 hours

Day 12

11th Dec 2019
  • Carry equipment day to camp II- Nido de Cóndores (5,550 m ). Return to Camp 1 ( 5050 m) ( B, L, D)
    Today the team will carry equipment to the second camp- Nido de Cóndores (5550 m). Return to Camp I. Approx duration of trekking: 5 to 6 hours up. 2 hour down Distance; 3km Altitude gain: 550m

Day 13

12th Dec 2019
  • Move to Camp II - Nido de Cóndores (5,550 m) ( B, L, D)
    Today the team will move to the second camp where will spend the night. Approx duration of trekking; 5 to 6 hours

Day 14

13th Dec 2019
  • Rest day at Camp II - Nido de Cóndores (5,550 m) ( B, L, D)
    A rest day will provide us with time to acclimatize. We will focus on sleep, hydration and eating well.

Day 15

14th Dec 2019
  • Move to Camp III- Nido de Cóndores (5,550 m )- Cólera (high camp) (5.970 m ) ( B, L, D)
    Today you will move to Camp III- Colera (high camp) (5.970 m ). Approx duration of trekking: 5 to 6 hours Distance: 2km

Day 16

15th Dec 2019
  • Summit Day (6960.8 m) ( B, L, D)
    Today we leave early to attempt the summit. Hours to summit; 7 to 10 hours up. and 3 to 5 hours down.

  • Additional day in case of Bad weather ( B, L, D)

17th Dec 2019
  • Additional day in case of Bad weather ( B, L, D)

Day 19

  • Trek back to Base camp ( B, L, D)
    Today you will trek back to base camp – Plaza de Mulas 4200 m. Approx duration of trekking: 5 to 6 hours

Day 21

20th Dec 2019
  • Descend and Transfer to Mendoza ( B)
    Today you will descend to Penitentes and travel to Mendoza. Approx duration of trekking: 7 to 9 hours Approx duration of driving: 3 hrs Overnight in Mendoza. (Hotel is not included for this night)

Day 22

21st Dec 2019
  • Departure Mendoza
    Airport transfer for departure flight.
