There, you will hop on a so-called “Brujita” (little wooden wagons pulled by a motorcycle) which is using the former tracks between Buenaventura at the Pacific coast to Medellin, and you will cross the Cauca River on a “Garrucha”, a platform hanging on steel cables used for transportation. The transfer from the town square to the Valley takes about half an hour and is unique because it is done in Willys jeeps of the 50s, brought back then to help the peasants and having turned, ever since, into a regional, iconic relic.

From the Cocora Valley, situated at 2,390 m.a.s.l., you will ascend (4 hours / 5 kilometers) to the Acaime Natural Reserve at 2,700 meters, crossing forests and creeks. This place used to be a livestock farm three decades ago but today has become a preservation area where hundreds of hummingbirds of different species flutter in front of your eyes as you enjoy a hearty aguadepanela with cheese. From there, walking a little further, it is possible to reach a viewpoint that offers a stunning view over the Valley.
