Day 01

9th August, 2019
  • Arrival in San Jose

    Upon your arrival at San Jose, you will be met by a Rahhalah representative who will take you to the hotel. You will enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace, until early in the evening, when you will meet your trip leader who will brief you about the details of your upcoming adventure.

Day 02

  • San Jose – La Fortuna (Arenal National Park / Hot Spring bath) (B)

    After an early breakfast, you will check-out and head to La Fortuna (approx. a 3-hour drive).
    Located northwest of the capital of San Jose, the little Costa Rican town of La Fortuna rests at the foot of the majestic Arenal Volcano. La Fortuna serves as an excellent base for the exploration of the beautiful surrounding area, being the gateway to the scenic Arenal Volcano National Park. Prepare to enjoy magnificent views of the volcano towering over the town, some spectacularly scenic sights from numerous viewpoints or along the hiking trails of the rainforest, and the relaxing ambience of the hot springs.

    Upon your arrival, you will head to the Arenal Volcano National Park which you will explore during the morning hours.
    The Arenal Volcano National Park is a protected area in northern Costa Rica. It is known for its hot springs, active Arenal Volcano and wildlife, including jaguars and tree frogs. 

    In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to relax by soaking in the waters of the Ecotermales Hot Springs. 

    ECOTERMALES HOT SPRINGS
    This is a family-run hot springs resort featuring volcanically heated pools. The facility offers separate changing rooms for women and men, each equipped with hot showers, lockers and toilets. The landscaping includes a regenerating forest and attractive tropical plants.
    Bring: towel, bathing suit, insect repellent, water shoes or sandals, and camera. 

    After your hot springs experience, you will be driven to your hotel in the Arenal area.

Day 03

11th August, 2019
  • River Rafting – La Fortuna (B)

    After breakfast, you will head to the Sarapiqui area (approximately a 1.5-hour drive). Upon your arrival, you will go through the safety brief, the gear, the commands, and the paddling instructions by a certified guide, before proceeding to the river for your rafting adventure. This rafting tour offers class II-III rapids with names like “Roller Coaster”, “Superman”, and “Air Force”, and it will undoubtedly fascinate you.
    Bring: comfortable clothing, water shoes, swimming suit, sunblock, towel and change of clothes.

    Afterwards, you will return to the Arenal area to enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace, exploring the city or signing up for optional activities like horse riding / La Fortuna Waterfall hike / Pure trek Canyoning / organic farm visit etc.. (additional cost applies).

Day 04

12th August, 2019
  • La Fortuna – Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (B)

    After breakfast, you will check-out from the hotel and head to Monteverde (an approximately 3-hour drive).

    The Monteverde Cloud Forest is one of the world’s premier destinations for naturalists. Much of the native wildlife is unique. In addition to hiking through the forest, visitors can enjoy many other activities or attractions, including horseback riding, dining in numerous restaurants, live frog and butterfly exhibits, bird watching, crafts and gift shopping, zip line tours and bridge walks; a native orchid garden and more.

    The rest of the day is free for you to explore the area at your own pace or sign up for another optional activities like Don Juan Coffee tour / Trapiche tour/ Butterfly Garden or Curicancha Night tour etc. (additional cost applies).

Day 05

  • Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (B)

    After breakfast, you will embark on a hike along the different trails of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.

    Monteverde Cloud Forest is located at a nearly 5000-feet elevation in the Tilaran Range of northwest Costa Rica. A cloud forest is an exceptionally beautiful and rare type of rain forest created by frequent mists from low-lying clouds, characterized by massive trees covered by thick “carpets” of small plants known as epiphytes.

    After finishing your hike, go for a thrilling adventure of Zip line with spectacular views of mountains, forest & valleys.
    Your tour will start riding an open-air gondola from the ground to the highest point of the mountain (approx. 20minutes ride), where you’ll be dropped off at an observation area.
     From this point, you will start riding down a unique zipline circuit that stretches across canyons, going from one mountain to another, and in between treetops.  making it a perfect adventure activity with no walking segments – get off and jump on to the next cable. You’ll ride 7 cables that go up to 100m (328ft) in height and 750m (2460ft) in length where you will be astounded by its impressive heights, speeds that go up to 70km/h (43.5mph) and the views.

Day 06

  • Monteverde – Manuel Antonio (B)

    After breakfast, you will check-out and head overland from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio National Park on the Pacific coast (approx. a 4-hour drive).

    Manuel Antonio consists of several beautiful beaches, a lush forest growing up to the beaches’ edge, easy walking trails and abundant wildlife. The park´s outstanding beauty was recognized recently when Forbes Magazine listed it as one of the World’s 12 Most Beautiful National Parks. The area outside the park offers visitors a wide variety of gorgeous hotels, excellent restaurants, and many optional activities such as rafting, surf lessons, and horseback riding. 

    Enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace, exploring the area or signing up for another activities like Catamaran Island adventure / Damas Island Mangrove boat tour or Manuel Antonio Surf lessons etc. (additional cost applies).

Day 07

15th August, 2019
  • Manuel Antonio National Park (B)

    Today you will hike with a local naturalist guide in the Manuel Antonio National Park. Best known for its gorgeous beaches, the park is also an important refuge for rare rainforest trees and wildlife. Here you can see white-faced capuchins, squirrel monkeys, sloths, racoons, agoutis, black and scarlet land crabs, iguanas and a variety of birds. 

    After your hike, you will have time to enjoy the beaches and the warm tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean.

    The rest of the day is free for you to explore the area at your own pace or sign up for another activity (additional cost applies).

Day 08

16th August, 2019
  • Manuel Antonio – San Jose – Departure (B)

    After breakfast, you will head back to San Jose for your departure flights (an approximately 3-4 hours’ drive).

    Note: there will be only 1 group departure transfer on this day to the airport due to the distance from Manuel Antonio to San Jose. Recommended departure flight times should be after 2pm.

Optional Extension to Tortuguero (4 Nights / 5 Days)

Day 01 - Extension

16th August, 2019
  • Manual Antonio – San Jose (B)

    Transfer with group from Manual Antonio to San Jose. Rest of group leaves for airport and the ones who is interested to extend their trip to Tortuguero, going to check-in at your hotel in San Jose.
    Stay overnight in San Jose.

Day 02 - Extension

  • Shared Land & Boat transfer to Tortuguero (B, L, D)

    We will pick you up early in the morning at your Hotel in San Jose around 06:00 / 06:30am approx
    Admire the biodiversity of an astonishing protected area in Costa Rica as we drive by Braulio Carrillo National Park, a primary forest in 95% of its extension.
    08:30 a.m have a taste of our delicious Costa Rican breakfast in route.
    Between 10:30 and 11.00 am Approx. Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals.
    Have a one-in-a-lifetime experience in this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of breathtaking beauty.
    01:00 p.m Enjoy a refreshing cocktail and a delicious Lunch as we welcome you to our hotel.
    2:30 p.m After lunch, enjoy nature in all its splendor by touring the canals and taking your best photos.
    7:00 p.m A delightful dinner will be served upon arrival to the lodge.
    OPTIONAL NIGHT TOUR (extra cost): Walk on the beach and admire the spawning of Tortuga Verde.

Day 03 - Extension

  • Evergreen Lodge Trails Walk & visit Tortuguero town (B, L, D)

    7:00 a.m Discover the flavors of Costa Rica with breakfast at the Lodge.
    9:00 a.m Hiking tour through the Lodge's private trail.
    1: 00 p.m Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Lodge.
    2: 45 p.m After lunch, we will visit the museum, the beach and the small and picturesque city of Tortuguero.
    7:00 p.m A delightful dinner will be served upon arrival to the lodge .

Day 04 - Extension

19th August, 2019
  • Shared boat and land transfer to San Jose (B, L )

    7:00 a.m Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the Lodge.
    9:30 a.m Departure to San José.
    1:00 p.m Lunch on the way, at El Ceibo Restaurant.
    Arrival to San José by 5-6pm.
    Stay overnight in San Jose.

Day 05 - Extension

20th August, 2019
  • Departure San Jose (B)

    Checkout from the hotel in morning and depart for the San Jose international airport for your flight back to home.
