Itinerary Details

Upon your arrival in Athens, you will be welcomed at the airport by the trip leader (or another Rahhalah representative), and you will be transferred to the hotel.

In the afternoon, you will head towards Plaka, the oldest, still-inhabited neighborhood of Athens and Europe. You will stroll around the picturesque alleys, observing the kaleidoscopic co-existence of the Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and modern Greek eras. You will also visit the charming area of Anafiotika – affectionately referred to as “an island within the city” – from the top of which you will enjoy panoramic views of the Greek metropolis.

You will finish the day in the oldest tavern in Plaka to dine on traditional local delicacies, singing and dancing – the Greek way!

Accommodation: Best Western Plus Embassy Hotel (4-star) or similar.

After an early breakfast, you will leave Athens and head to the coastal town of Loutraki, to swim in the crystal waters of the Corinthian Sea and lunch on authentic, seafood delicacies at a traditional, family-owned restaurant.

In the afternoon, you will visit the archaeological site of Mycenae, known for the tomb of Agamemnon (the leader of the Greek army during the Trojan war), and the civilization that flourished in the Mediterranean during the late Bronze Age period (16-12th centuries BC).

Later, you will reach Nafplio, the first capital city of modern Greece: a picturesque, coastal town with a strongly Venetian ambiance, which will be your base for the next few days. Depending on the arrival time, you may go for a swim at the nearby Arvanitia Beach.

Accommodation: Agamemnon Hotel (3-star) or similar.

Early in the morning, you will climb the 999 stairs to Palamidi Castle – a Venetian fort and one of the best fortification examples in Greece – from where you will admire panoramic views of the town.

You will then drive to Kondyli beach: a bay of stunning beauty, 30 minutes away from Nafplio, where you will spend the rest of the morning basking under the sun or swimming in the clear, blue waters.

The afternoon will be dedicated to the exploration of Nafplio and its most intriguing landmarks, the island of Bourtzi, the path around Akronafplia, thecafes by the port, or the excellent, boutique shops.

Dinner at a local tavern.

After an early breakfast, you will drive towards Porto Heli (a 1.5-hour drive) and, from the Kosta port, you will take the boat to Spetses: the idyllic “spice” island (its name is borrowed from the Italian “spezie” which means “spices”). Its port, Dapia, is adorned with old mansions, the beaches are welcoming, and the preferred mode of transport is the horse-driven carriage.
You will return to Nafplio in the evening for dinner and a stroll through the alleys of the old town.
