Itinerary Details

Upon your arrival in Athens, you will be welcomed at the airport by the trip leader, and once the whole team is assembled, you will drive to Nafplio town in Peloponnese (around 2 hours drive). On the way, you will stop at the Canal (Isthmus) in Corinth, and you will listen to some of the most ancient tales of Europe.

Nafplio is an adorable town with a Venetian ambience, cobbled alleys, and an alluring port. After settling at the hotel, you will explore the narrow streets and shops, stroll around Acronafplia, and enjoy your first dinner in Greece, under the protective shade of the Venetian castle.

Accommodation: Amalia Nafplio (4-star) or similar.

In the morning, you will head to the Castle of Nafplio, climbing its famous 999 stairs to the top, from where you can admire panoramic views. You will then head to Loutraki town, where, depending on the weather, you can swim in the crystal waters (though the sea is usually chilly in the end of May), or you can hike up the Acrocorinth Rock with its ancient ruins.

After lunch by the sea and some relaxation by the Corniche, you will drive to Kalavryta town up on the mountains (a 2-hour drive), crossing beautiful gorges and pastoral landscapes.

Enjoy the afternoon, strolling around Kalavryta, before lunch in a local tavern.

Accommodation: Kalavryta Canyon and Spa (4-star) or similar.

After breakfast, you will head towards Tsivlou lake, one of the most beautiful lakes of the Peloponnese. Located at 800 m of altitude, it is surrounded by a forest that slides down to the lake’s edge and offers a great opportunity for short hikes and relaxation. You can swim in the turquoise waters and walk on the path around the lake before enjoying lunch at the nearby tavern.

In the afternoon, you will head to the restaurant of Giorgos Manikas (an expert chef with an adorable personality) for a cooking class session using local ingredients and traditional recipes with a modern twist.

Accommodation: Kalavryta Canyon and Spa (4-star) or similar.

After breakfast, you will ride the odontotos rack train along the Vouraikos gorge, passing through several tunnels and a landscape of breathtaking beauty. The activity lasts for around one hour and is considered one of the most scenic rides in the world.

One hour later, in Diakofto town, you will ride the car and head to Messologgi town, famous for its history, lagoon, and biodiversity. On the way, you will cross the Rio-Antirio bridge, one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and longest of the fully suspended type.

In Messologgi, you will embark on a kayaking adventure, and in the afternoon, a boat ride on the lagoon, visiting the old stilt fishing houses, called pelades. Depending on the time and weather, you may enjoy a short hike in the nearby mountain, and you may pass outside the famous salt producing facilities, admiring the huge mountains of salt.

After sunset, you will head back home, stopping on the way for dinner by the sea.

Accommodation: Kalavryta Canyon and Spa (4-star) or similar.

Early in the morning, you will head back to Athens (a 3-hour drive) so that you can have your PCR test on time. After checking in at the hotel, you will explore Plaka, the oldest, still-inhabited neighborhood of Athens and Europe, strolling around the picturesque alleys, and observing the kaleidoscopic co-existence of the Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and modern Greek eras. You will also visit the charming area of Anafiotika – affectionately referred to as “an island within the city” – and you will enjoy from the top panoramic views over the Greek metropolis.

Accommodation: 4-or 5-star downtown Athens.

After breakfast, you will head to the nearby hills that surround the Acropolis Rock, from where you can take amazing panoramic photos of the Parthenon and listen to the story of Athens.
Optional: you may go up the Acropolis Rock and/or the Acropolis Museum (entrance fees not included in the itinerary).

Later, and depending on your departure times, you will head to the airport for your flight back home.
