Itinerary Details

Upon your arrival at Athens International Airport, you will be welcomed by the trip leader and head to your hotel downtown. Late in the afternoon, the group will assemble, head to the old Plaka neighborhood, and end the day with dinner in a traditional tavern with live Greek music. Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel, Athens.
After breakfast, you will head to the hills around the Acropolis Rock and, while admiring the ancient monuments – and taking the best panoramic photos of the famous site – you will delve into the history of Athens, the importance of Parthenon, and the impact left on the world to this day. You will then move to the Acropolis Museum, where you can admire the remains of the ancient acropolis and enjoy views of the Parthenon from a different angle. If you wish, you can also have coffee or a light meal facing the Acropolis Rock. Note: if interested, you may take the opportunity to visit the Acropolis archaeological site (tickets not included in the price). In the afternoon, you will move into Plaka, exploring its hidden corners, its shopping areas, and the island-like neighborhood of Anafiotika (“an island within the city” as it is affectionately known). Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel, Athens.
After an early breakfast, you will take the metro to Piraeus port, where you will hop on the ferry to Hydra island (around 2 hours, one way). Hydra is famous for its old mansions, beautiful architecture, and the fact that it has no cars: a cosmopolitan island, beloved the world over. There, you can stroll through the town, explore its shops, and swim in the crystal waters of the Mediterranean. Optional: You may also explore the island on horseback. There are several available routes, 30-mins long or more, for beginners or experienced riders, that can offer you the opportunity to explore parts of the island you cannot reach otherwise (cost of the activity not included in the price; prices starting from 30 E; pre-booking required). Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel, Athens.
In the morning, you will drive along the Athenian Riviera, stopping for coffee or even a swim along the way. Then, at around 4pm, you will embark on a sea kayaking adventure near Cape Sounio and the famous Tempe of Poseidon. The first stop will be the rocky islet of Archi or one of the hidden beaches of Sounio, for swimming and a refreshing snack. Full of energy, you will continue to the Temple of Poseidon, revealed from a point of view that only few can enjoy. Duration of activity: around 3 hours. Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel, Athens.
After an early morning, you will take again the metro to Piraeus, this time heading to Aegina (around 1-hour, one-way trip). There, you will stroll through the town and then head to a beach to swim. If permitted, you will head to Moni island as well, where you may be welcomed by peacocks and deer upon your arrival (the island is a protected area, and sometimes access is closed for the protection of its biodiversity). You will enjoy a late lunch (or early dinner) at a local fish tavern and you will check the variety of the famous pistachio products of the island before returning to Athens. Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel, Athens.
After breakfast, and depending on your departure time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
