Itinerary Details

Upon your arrival in Athens, you will be welcomed at the airport by the trip leader. Once the whole group assembles, you will depart for Nafpaktos: a picturesque coastal town with a castle at the port’s entrance. On the way, you will stop somewhere by the sea for a late lunch/early dinner and you will pass by the Rio-Antirio bridge, one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and longest of the fully suspended type.

Note 1: There will be only one group transfer to Nafpaktos. Private transfers can be arranged at an additional cost.
Note 2: Driving time: approx. 3 hrs. As such, latest arrival in Athens should be by 3pm.

Accommodation: Flisvos Hotel, Nafpaktos (3-star hotel).

In the morning, you will head to the small town of Messologhi, renowned for its history, lagoon, and sea products. There, you will enjoy a boat ride on the lagoon to admire the old fishermen’s houses and the famous biodiversity.

Then, you will continue the road trip to the north of Greece. On the way, you will stop for lunch in Parga, a beautiful coastal town, where you can also explore the Venetian castle for panoramic views on the bay.

By the evening, you will reach Tsepelovo in Zagorohoria: a cluster of picturesque villages up on the mountains.

Accommodation: Hotel Kamares in Tsepelovo village (3-star) or similar.

In the morning, you will hike on the traditional trail “Villages and Bridges” which will allow you to explore the villages, walk on cobbled paths, rock bridges, while marveling at the beauty of Vikos gorge (the deepest gorge in Europe). It will be a 3-hour hike of moderate difficulty for beginners.

Later, you will take the car to explore some additional hidden gems in the gorge, including the famous Kolympithres (water pools formed among the rocks) and Voidomatis River.

Accommodation: Hotel Kamares in Tsepelovo village (3-star) or similar.

In the morning, you will head to Ioannina, a beautiful town perched next to a lake. First, you will head to a lab for a PRC test (if required), and then you will embark on an exploration of the city, taking the boat to the famous island in the middle of its lake, strolling under plane trees, getting a glimpse in its silver jewelry and tasting the famous cuisine of the mountains.

Accommodation: Hotel du Lac Congress Center and Spa (5-star hotel) or similar.

After breakfast, you will head to Meteora (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). it is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos. The six, still-operating monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area.

Upon arrival, you will enjoy a 3-hour hiking adventure through Meteora’s hidden trails around the monasteries. The hike is easy, suitable for beginners.

Accommodation: Amalia Hotel Kalampaka (4-star hotel).

After breakfast, you will head back to Athens (a 4.5-5-hour drive).
