Jordan, an Arab nation on the east bank of the Jordan River, is known for its ancient monuments, natural reserves, and seaside resorts. It is also home to the famed archaeological site of Petra: the Nabatean capital dating to around 300 B.C.E. Set in a narrow valley full of tombs, temples and monuments carved into the pink sandstone cliffs, Petra is one of the New Seven Wonders of the world.

In this itinerary, we have combined some of the most exciting adventures one can enjoy in Jordan plus a glamping experience, the lot compacted in just four days. You will hike on the most iconic trails around Petra and the magnificent Wadi Rum, reaching Jordan’s highest summit, Umm Ad Dami. At the same time, you will spend a few nights in luxurious Martian bubble tents, interact with the Bedouins and learn more details about their culture, enjoy the renowned Jordanian cuisine, and even squeeze in some time downtown Amman for some last-minute shopping. Itinerary Details

Day 1 (26th October 2023): Arrival in Amman – Transfer to Wadi Rum (L, D)

Note 1: Arrival in Amman must be before 09:00am. If not possible, please arrange to arrive on the night before (cost of the extra night’s accommodation is not included in the price; in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to meet the rest of the team).

Upon your arrival at Amman Airport, you will be welcomed by a Rahhalah representative. When the whole team assembles, you will be transferred to Wadi Rum (approx. a 3-4-hour drive).

Once in Wadi Rum, you will be guided to a remote campsite where you will enjoy a traditional BBQ lunch prepared by a local Bedouin family that will be keen to share with you details on the Bedouin culture and traditions.

In the afternoon, you will explore the canyons of Wadi Rum on a camel.

Finally, you will reach the camp where you will rest for the night. In the evening, you will taste the traditional Zarb – a delicious Bedouin treat – and will sleep under the stars.

Accommodation: Mazayen campsite (Martian bubble tents) or similar with all modern facilities (bed, electricity, modern bathrooms, running water).

Day 2 (27th October 2023): Summiting Umm Al Dami: The highest peak in Jordan (1,854 m) (B, L, D)

Early in the morning, you will drive to Umm Al Dami, and begin your hike at around 7 am. The trail is of moderate difficulty; the path starts from the foot of the mountain, and it takes 3-4 hours to reach the top. At the summit, you will enjoy panoramic views of the vast rocky Jordanian mountains up to northern Saudi Arabia. You will even spot a border crossing far below.

Note: This hike contains a few sections where you may need to use your hands for balance to ascend and/or descend.

Hiking details:
Hiking duration: approx. 3-4 hrs.
Elevation gain: 1,854 m.

You will then return to the camp for a well-deserved relaxing afternoon.

Accommodation: Mazayen campsite (Martian bubble tents) or similar with all modern facilities (bed, electricity, modern bathrooms, running water).

Day 3 (28th October 2023): Transfer to Petra – Hiking on the ancient Nabatean trails (B, L, D)

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Petra (approx. a 2.5-hour drive). There, you start hiking on the ancient trails surrounding the famed capital of the Nabateans (a total distance of 12.4 km), exploring the historical site of Petra via the “back route”. This will give you the opportunity to discover the city’s rich history and culture in a truly authentic way, staying away from the crowds. The hike starts from an area called Little Petra; on the way, you will pass through narrow goat trails and stony paths, making your way to Ad Deir or the ‘Monastery’, admiring the beauty of the carved sandstones. You will then climb down approximately 900 steps to reach the world-famous Treasury, before continuing to the visitors’ center. Lunch box provided.

Hiking time: approx. 6-8 hours depending on route taken.

After lunch, you will be transferred to your luxury camp (or a luxury hotel) to check-in and relax.

Accommodation: Luxury Maritan or Bubble tents at Petra or luxury hotel or similar.

Day 4 (29th October 2023): Exploring Petra – Transfer to Amman – Departure (B)

After breakfast, you will embark on a signature walk (2-3 hours) in Petra, passing by the Treasury again, exploring the architectural marvels that the ancient Nabateans created on the rocks, and noting the influences of various cultures like the Roman, the Egyptian, and, later on, the Islamic one on the city. Snacks and water will be provided.

Once your Petra exploration is completed, you will drive towards downtown Amman. Depending on your departure details, you will have a few hours for shopping, resting, or exploring the city on your own, and afterwards you will be transferred as a group to the airport for your flights back home.

Note: Recommended departure flights to be after 6pm.

This cost is based on Double Occupancy. Single supplement amounts to 675 USD per person.
The cost is based on a group of min 4 people. Rahhalah reserves the right to change the price if the trip runs with fewer participants.

Important: The itinerary and schedule are subject to change due to weather, road challenges or operating conditions. At any moment, the guide has the RIGHT to change the program for the safety and convenience of the travelers.

Also, the trip's price does not cover expenses that may occur due to conditions beyond Rahhalah's control (force
majeure). Such cases include but are not limited to extreme weather conditions, flight cancellations or delays, and natural phenomena (earthquakes, volcano eruptions, hurricanes, etc.). We, the Rahhalah team, both in our HQ and on the ground, will do our best to assist you with alternative arrangements (like new accommodation and/or transportation arrangements, revised itinerary and activities etc.), but ALL NEW COSTS incurred because of force majeure are to be covered by the traveler.

We strongly recommend that, before your departure, you purchase travel insurance that covers trip cancellation costs, loss of baggage or personal items, medical emergencies, and other unexpected circumstances that cannot be controlled by Rahhalah or any traveler.
