Upon your arrival at the international airport of Mexico City, you will be welcomed by a Rahhalah representative who will transfer you to your hotel (approx. a 30-min drive). Note: Only one group airport transfer is included in the price. Additional transfers can be arranged at an extra cost. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing, and exploring the city at your own pace. Accommodation: Barcelo Hotel or similar, Mexico City.
After breakfast, prepare for a full-day exploration of Mexico City and the wonders hidden in its historical center (duration of the tour: around 6-7 hours). You will stop at “Zocalo”, the main national square, the ruins of the ancient Aztec city Tenochtitlan, the Cathedral and the National Palace with murals made by Diego Rivera. Finally, you will visit the famous Anthropology Museum that hosts a great collection of pre-Hispanic artefacts. Accommodation: Barcelo Hotel or similar, Mexico City.
After an early breakfast, you will head towards the archaeological site of Teotihuacán: one of the most impressive sites of the Aztec civilization (1-hour drive, one way). There, you will have the opportunity to admire the complexities of the Aztec treasures, the magnificent Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the Butterflies Temple, the Avenue of the Dead, and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl. On the way back to Mexico City, you will stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe: a sanctuary dedicated to Virgin Mary, the first pilgrimage site in Mexico, and the most visited Marian precinct in the world, surpassed only by Saint Peter's Basilica. The tour will last approx. 7-8 hours, including the driving. You will return to Mexico City in the evening, to relax and enjoy the city by night. Accommodation: Barcelo Hotel or similar, Mexico City.
In the morning, you will head to the airport to take a flight to Cancun. Note: the cost of the flight is not included. You will be advised closer to date on which flight to book. Upon your arrival at the airport of Cancun, you will be welcomed by the local representative of Rahhalah, and you will head to Tulum: a town on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico, famous for its beaches and the well-preserved ruins of an ancient Mayan port city (approx. a 2-hr drive). Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the town at your own pace. Accommodation: Kai Tulum or similar, Tulum.
After an early breakfast, you will head to Coba (a 1-hour drive) to delve into the secrets of the Mayan civilization. In Coba, you will visit the archaeological zone and Nohoch Muul: the highest pyramid of Yucatan (expected duration of the tour: 2 hours). Afterwards, you will head to the Mayan village Tankah (about a 1-hour drive). The village combines the wonders of nature with the mysticism of the ancient Maya. Besides exploring the village, where you can interact with the locals and observe their daily activities including handcrafting, beekeeping and agriculture, you will also have the opportunity to relax by the refreshing waters of the cenote, where you can swim or canoe, surrounded by lush nature. Last but not least, you will enjoy the famous Mexican cuisine, trying some of the best handmade delicacies of the region, in a buffet prepared by the community’s women. Late in the afternoon (at around 16:30pm, you will return to Tulum. Accommodation: Kai Tulum or similar, Tulum.
You will start early in the morning, heading to the archaeological site of Chichen Itza (a 2.5-hour drive). It is one of the most famous Mayan complexes, magnificent and enigmatic, full of stunning buildings like the Pyramid of Kukulkan: one of the 7 wonders of the modern world, also known as El Castillo. It is a huge, stepped pyramid which dominates over the large (almost 6.5 sq.km) ancient Mayan city. Other spectacular structures include the Ball field and the Temple of warriors. Afterwards, you will relax and swim in the fresh waters of a nearby cenote, and you visit the colonial city of Valladolid, before returning to Tulum (a 2.5-hour drive). After breakfast, you will finally explore the archaeological zone of Tulum (a 30-min drive from the hotel), situated right next to the Caribbean beach: a unique location that allows you to enjoy both the ancient temples and the turquoise waters of the sea (duration of the tour: approx. 1.5 hours). Afterwards, you will head to Sac Actun (a 30-min drive). The Sistema Sac Actun is an underwater cave system situated along the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula with passages to the north and west of the city of Tulum. Until January 2023, it was the longest known underwater cave system, and today it is surpassed only by the Sistema Ox Bel Ha (also in Mexico). There, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourselves in the crystal-clear waters, protected by the caves over millennia. You will also enjoy a snorkeling tour, swimming around stalactites and stalagmites, enveloped in the darkness of the caves. After the activity, you may wish to enjoy lunch at a nearby local restaurant (cost of lunch not included), before returning to Tulum (a 30-min drive; expected arrival time: 3pm). After so much exploration, you will have a full day to enjoy at leisure, resting, swimming, walking, shopping and interacting with the locals. Accommodation: Kai Tulum or similar, Tulum.
