Itinerary Details

Upon your arrival, a Rahhalah representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel.

Enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.

Overnight at Holiday Inn hotel or similar.

After breakfast, you will check out from the hotel and head to the Mongol Nomadic tourist camp, where, upon arrival, you will enjoy a local, nomadic show. While there, you will participate in the daily routine of a traditional Mongolian family, and you will observe the breeding process of five kinds of livestock and their transferring methods from one place to another using ox, yak, camel, and horse carts. You will learn how local dairy products are made, and you will also have the chance to taste a few. Finally, you will watch the process of milking yaks and mare, fastening and milking sheep and goats, as well as felt tanning. Lunch at the ger camp.

In the afternoon, you will attend a mini Naadam that includes wrestling, horse races, archery as well as other cultural shows and games.

In the morning, you will head to the Gun Galuut Nature Reserve. On the way, you will visit Genghis Khan’s horseman statue located in Tsonjinboldog. The statue is 40 m. tall and is considered as the highest horseman statue in the world.

In the camp, you will spend time in a local nomadic family’s ger to understand more about the lifestyle of the Mongols in the steppes, while, in the afternoon, you will enjoy a 2-hour horseback riding adventure along the Kherlen River valley.

Gun Galuut is home to several endangered species of birds and mammals. In the morning, you will visit Mt. Baits and enjoy a 3-hour hike while observing the region’s flora and fauna. You may even be lucky to spot the endangered Argali big-horn sheep in Mt. Baits and the White Napped crane on the way back.

In the afternoon, you will head to Ulaanbaatar, where you will visit the National History Museum and Sukhbaatar Square. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure, perhaps shopping souvenir or the famous Mongolian cashmere. In the evening, you will attend a traditional folklore concert from the magical Tumen Ekh ensemble. Dinner at a local restaurant.

After breakfast, you will visit the Gandan Monastery that hosts a 26-meter-high gilded statue of the Buddha, before climbing the Zaisan hill for panoramic views of the city. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, you will board the Trans Mongolian train #305 to Irkutsk, departing at 15:22.

Approx. driving time: 2-3 hrs.

You are expected to arrive at Irkutsk, located near Lake Baikal, at 15:13. At the railway station, you will be welcomed by your new guide who will take you on a 2-hour city tour by car, passing by the Epiphany Cathedral (the oldest stone-structure Church of our Savior), and the Polish Roman Catholic Church: the only Catholic Cathedral in Irkutsk. The tour takes you through the Kirov Square and circus, leading you to the main street of the city: Karl Marks Street. You will follow the road to the Angara river embankment, where you will see the monument to Alexander III. You will end at the district of historical wooden buildings and, from there, you will be transferred to the hotel for dinner and relaxation.

Overnight at Marriott hotel or similar, Irkutsk.

Today, you will enjoy Lake Baikal to its fullest. After breakfast, you will head to Listvyanka for a guided tour to the local Baikal museum that has a set of aquariums, one of which hosts the Baikal Seal: the only mammal of the exhibit. You will also see the famous Shaman Rock and learn the legend of the naughty Angara River. Take a chairlift (*) to a nearby viewpoint, from where you will have the opportunity to take panoramic pictures of Baikal from above.
Over lunch, you will enjoy the traditional Baikal cuisine, while in the afternoon you will visit the 19th-century wooden church of St.Nicolas and a local fish market.

Overnight at Marriott hotel or similar, Irkutsk.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.

Note: 2 group airport transfers will be arranged. Timings will be advised in due course. Additional transfers can be arranged at an extra cost.

Optional Pre-trip extension: Gobi Desert

Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by a Rahhalah representative at the airport, and you will be transferred to the hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

After breakfast, you will catch an early morning flight to Gobi town. Upon arrival, you will meet your local driver and head to Gurvan Saikhan Mountain to visit beautiful Yoliin Am gorge. Enjoy 2-3-hour hiking in the narrow gorge while observing flora and fauna of this mountain. You may also visit the natural history museum before exiting the park, where you will get more information about the vibrant ecosystem of the region.

You will later proceed to the Dream Gobi lodge where you will stay for the next two nights.
After lunch, you will visit the Khavtsgait Petroglyph: a group of rock paintings spreading on several rocks, dating to 8000 – 4000BC. There are ancient drawings of wild animals such as Big Horn sheep, Ibex, wolfs, as well as horse riders, ox cards and many more.

Overnight Dream Gobi Lodge or similar.

After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to Bayanzag, known, since a visit to the Mongolian Gobiby a scientific exploration team in the 1920s, as “the Flaming Cliffs,”. The first dinosaur eggs were found in this place. You will spend the day hiking in the area and visiting a local family’s ger to explore the nomadic way of life. Transfer back to Dream Gobi lodge late in the afternoon.

After breakfast, you will catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar and, upon arrival there, you will be transferred to the hotel where you will meet with the rest of the group.
