Day 016th June 2019
- Arrival at Windhoek / Drive to the Etosha National Park (D)
Note: The distance from the airport in Windhoek to the Etosha National Park is a 6-hour drive, so it is imperative that you arrive at Namibia no later than 8am. If you need to arrive one day earlier, an extra night at Windhoek can be arranged for you (at additional cost). Upon arrival at Windhoek, you will be welcomed by your guide and head north towards the Etosha National Park, known as “the great white place of dry water”, where you will encounter a stunning variety of African wildlife. While in Etosha, you will camp either at Okaukuejo or Halali (depending on the animal movements), near a floodlit waterhole that offers the opportunity for a 24-hour game viewing. Elephants and black rhinoceros are seen daily during the dry winter months and expect numerous other species to cross your path. The Etosha National Park is one of the world’s most significant conservation areas and a sanctuary to large herds of animals typical to the African plains. Covering an area of 22,270km2, Etosha extends for about 300km from west to east and 110km from north to south at its widest point. Its impressive collection of wild animals includes lions, leopards, elephants, white and black rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, numerous species of antelopes as well as over 340 species of birds. Day 027th June 2019
- Etosha National Park Game Drive (B)
Today, prepare to explore the park and uncover all its secrets! With two game drives – one very early in the morning and the second late in the afternoon – you will traverse the park, standing in awe in front of the vast expanse of the Etosha Pan shimmering in the midday heat. Ostriches will look like tiny, moving, black dots as they wander around for miles on the salt pan. In the afternoon, you will relax in the ambience of the African wilderness or watch the animals drinking water at the campsite’s waterhole. CAMPING: Okaukuejo or Halali.
Day 038th June 2019
- Etosha National Park / Swakopmund (B)
After breakfast, you will depart from the park with a last game drive towards the exit gates, before heading to the coastal town of Swakopmund (a 5 to 6-hour drive). ACCOMMODATION: Dunedin Guest House or Similar.
Day 049th June 2019
- Swakopmund – Dolphin Cruise – Optional activities (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a fascinating, 3-hour boat excursion in search of dolphins, seals and other sea animals. Later, you may wish to explore some of the optional activities like Quad Biking, Sand Boarding, Sky diving etc. If you do not feel adventurous, you can enjoy a few relaxing hours walking around the city, shopping or visiting its various attractions like the Crystal Gallery, the museums or the Aquarium. Note: Optional activities are at extra cost. ACCOMMODATION: Dunedin Guest House or Similar.
Day 0510th June 2019
- Swakopmund to Namib Naukluft Park (B, D)
After breakfast, you will leave Swakopmund towards the Namib Desert, regarded by some scientists as the oldest desert in the world. On the way, you will pass by the Walvis Bay Lagoon, famous for its large numbers of flamingos, and Kuiseb Canyon which, for two years during World War II acted as home to two Germans and their dog. It is a 5-hour scenic drive to the outskirts of the Namib Naukluft Park. CAMPING: Weltevrede Guest farm campsite or alternative campsite.
Day 0611th June 2019
- Dune 45 and Sossusvlei (B, D)
Very early in the morning – before the crack of dawn – you will depart towards the entrance gates of Sossusvlei. On the way, you will have some excellent opportunities to capture the sunrise on the dunes. A climb up the dunes will offer a superb view of the Tsaucab River Canyon and the valley that stretches amidst the wilderness. There, you will have a picnic breakfast, before starting a 2-hour walk through the beautiful Hidden vlei of the Sossusvlei Area. Afterwards, you will explore the Sesriem Canyon on foot, before heading back to your accommodation. CAMPING: Weltevrede Guest farm campsite or similar.
Day 0713th June 2019
- Namib Naukluft Park to Windhoek (B)
After a relaxing breakfast, you will head back to the Capital of Namibia (approx. a 6-hour drive), expecting to arrive late in the afternoon. Transfer to the airport for departure flights. Note: Given the distance from the Park to Windhoek, your departure flight must be late in the evening. If you need to depart one day later, an extra night in Windhoek can be arranged at an additional cost.
