Detailed Itinerary

Day 01

5th July 2019
  • Arrival at Bergen (D)
    Upon your arrival at the Bergen international airport (BGO), you will be welcomed by a Rahhalah representative and transferred to the hotel. Airport transfer – one group transfer is included. Enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace, before meeting for the briefing with your guide. Dinner & Overnight at hotel. Accommodation: Thon Orion, Bergen or similar.

Day 02

6th July 2019
  • Bergen city and coastal tour (B, D)
    After breakfast, you will check-out from the hotel and embark on a guided walking tour around Bergen city – the former Viking capital (2-3hours). Bergen is perched by the Bergen fjord, in the middle of Fjord Norway – an excellent starting point for exploring the Norwegian fjords. In Bergen, you will find the UNESCO Bryggen wooden wharf houses and other charming, authentic areas with tiny wooden buildings and narrow streets. You can take the Funicular to mount Fløyen, from where you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the city. The cable car to mount Ulriken – the highest of the 7 mountains surrounding Bergen – offers stunning views on the surrounding fjords and islands. The guided tour will include the famoushistoricalsitesof the city includingBryggen, the Fishmarket, and a ride up to Mt Fløyenwith the funicular (withan optional hike down). Later, at 2:15, you will join acoastal cruise. During this 4-hour boat trip, you will enjoy scenic views along the fjordcoast, before arriving atSmørhamn on Bremangerisland near the Nordfjord. This boat is much used by locals and stops at funny small seaside towns. You will be transferred to your hotel (a 5-min drive), for a relaxing evening and a delicious seafood buffet dinner in a nearby fish restaurant. Accommodation: Seaside Knutholmen hotel in Kalvåg or similar.

Day 03

7th July 2019
  • Hikingalong the Atlantic coastal Seaclifftrail (B, L, D)
    After breakfast, you will head to the starting point of the Seacliff hike (a 30-min scenic drive over the Island). Along the hiking trail, you will enjoy the beautiful Norwegian landscape, while, at the top, you will have a picnic lunch, marveling at the breathtaking views of the ocean and the fjords. Hiking time: 3-4hrs. Elevation: 450m. Afterwards, you will return to the sandy beach for swimming and relaxation, who is brave enough to dive into this crystal clear but COLD water! You can spend the afternoon exploring the area at your own pace, maybe also go shopping at the local shops where you can find traditional woolen products. Or you may choose to join an optional activity: a Harbour Spa or a fishing trip (cost not included). By Evening a brief visit with your guide to a 50-years old museum shop. Three-course seafood dinner in a local restaurant. Accommodation: Seaside Knutholmen hotel in Kalvåg or similar.

Day 04

8th July 2019
  • Driving along the Nordfjord– Horseback riding in the Hjelmelandsdalen valley (B, L, D)
    After breakfast,you will check-out from the hotel and drive along the Nordfjord. Then, you will embark on a 2-hour horseback riding adventure in the Hjelmelandsdalen valley. Nordfjordeid is known as ‘the Mecca of the Fjord Horse’, because of its long-standing horse traditions. Today, the village has an active community of Fjord-horse owners and breeders. The horses are of the local breed “Fjordhorse”, and you may have seen them already in the Walt Disney movie “Frost”. After the ride ,you will continue towards Nordfjordeid where you have the option to visit the Vikings ship in Sagaparken. Continue to your hotel. Check-in & relax at hotel. You will have dinner in a local restaurant & enjoy for the rest of evening. Accommodation: Raftevold hotel, Hornindal or similar.

Day 05

9th July 2019
  • Exploring the Norangsdalen valley – Kayaking on the Hjørundfjord (B, L, D)
    After breakfast & checkout from hotel,you will go for a short drive to the spectacular Norangsdalen valley. On the way, you will stop at a modern waterpower plant. Norangsdalen is described as the wildest and most spectacular valley of Norway. Its steep mountains, culture, history, and wild nature are unique, turning the place into a must-see attraction for all hikers, divers, and tourists. The bottom of the valley is full of scree. The houses were built into the ground as protection against snow avalanches. The lake known as Lygnstøylvatnet was formed by a rock that fell from Keipen in 1908. Beneath the waters of the lake, you can still see remains of the old road, the foundations of the farmhouses, and the gateway. You will stop at the middle of the valley where you will be able to see a drowned farm at the bottom of the lake, before embarking on a guided kayaking trip on the Hjørundfjord (3-4 hours) from the little village of Urke. A good example of historic small fishing farmer towns along the fjords. On the way back we might stop by the historic Union hotel in Øye. A wooden hotel formerly used by emperors and other royalty. Hjørundfjordenremains a hidden gem as it is less crowded then Geiranger. Yet, it is spectacular with big waterfalls cascading into the fjord. You will begin your trip down in Urke in the fjord, where you will go through a safety briefing and kayaking instructions before setting off. You will use stable tandem kayaks that are easy to paddle and a perfect means to explore the fjords. On the way, there are good chances to spot eagles, porpoise, otters and other animals of the local wildlife. Dinner in a restaurant and we drive to hotel. Check-in & relax. Accommodation: Gloppenhotel, Sondaneor similar.

Day 06

10th July, 2019
  • Cruising along the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nærøyfjord (B, D)
    After an early breakfast, you will check-out once more from the hotel and, at 7am, you will take the Fjordcruise from Kaupanger over Sognefjord into the UNESCO listed Nærøyfjordand Gudvangen where you are expected to arrive at 11.30 am. This cruise between Gudvangen and Kaupanger will take you on a journey through some of the most beautiful fjord landscapes in Norway. You will sail through UNESCO World Heritage-listed fjords featuring majestic mountains, wild nature, and idyllic villages. This ferry trip offers you a unique opportunity to experience several of the most beautiful fjords in Norway – the Nærøyfjord, Aurlandsfjord and Sognefjord, inhabited from time immemorial – all in one trip. On the way, you will also see small homesteads clinging to the sides of the steep slopes that plunge into the fjord, surrounded by mountains reaching up to 1800 metres and snow-covered peaks that stand in striking contrast against the dark, deep fjord. After the cruise, you will briefly visit the Vikingvillage in Gudvangenwhere you will get a better understanding of the local life, beforereaching Flåm(a15-min drive). There, you will take the Flåmsbanamountain train at 11.45 am. The Flåm Railway has been described as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world and is one of the leading attractions in Norway. The train runs from the end of Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord, up to the high mountains at Myrdal station. The journey features the finest aspects of the stunning scenery of Western Norway. Return to Flåmby the same train or a walk down partof the valley is beautiful option. In Flam city where you can spend some free time at your leisure, shopping and relaxing. In the afternoon, you will drive back to Bergen (a 2-3-hour drive), check-in to your hotel & relax. Day 07

11th July 2019
  • Departure Bergen (B)
    After breakfast and depending on your departure time, you will be transferred to the Bergen airport for your flight back home. Note: one group airport transfer is included in cost.
