Day 03

10th Nov 2019
  • Cape town Half day city tour + Robben Island tour (B)

The city bowl lies in a natural amphitheatre, bordered by Table Bay on one side and hugged by Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and Devil’s Peak. The city centre may be small but it is home to a vibrant history and culture; as well as many fine shops and restaurants. It holds many attractions for any traveller wanting to experience interesting conversations and stories, historic landmarks and discover how Cape Town developed from the original “tavern of the seas” – a halfway refreshment post en-route to the Spice Island, to the sophisticated city of today.

There is no doubt that Cape Town deserves her reputation as one of the most desirable destinations on the planet! It is hard to find cities this beautiful and this welcoming.
Visiting V&A waterfront situated between Robben Island and Table Mountain in the heart of Cape Town's working harbour, the V&A Waterfront has become South Africa's most visited destination. Set against a backdrop of magnificent sea and mountain views, exciting shopping and entertainment venues are intermingled with imaginative office locations, world-class hotels and luxury apartments. The Waterfront is the heart of the tourist industry in Cape Town.

After finishing city tour we take a ferry trip across the bay to Robben Island (weather permitting). From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the newly democratic South Africa and of the price paid for freedom.
Since 1997 it has been a museum and a heritage site. The museum is a dynamic institution, which acts as a focal point of South African heritage. It runs educational programmes for schools, youths and adults, facilitates tourism development, conducts ongoing research related to the Island and fulfils an archiving function.
The tour to Robben Island is 3.5 hours long, including the two half-hour ferry rides. Ferries depart at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm, weather permitting, from the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town.
    Overnight in hotel.
