Day 01

22nd May 2020
  • Arrival at Lima

    Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by a Rahhalah representative who will drive you to the hotel (in Miraflores, the most beautiful and safest area of Lima). You may relax for the rest of your day, exploring the city at your own pace.

    Overnight in Lima: Casa Andina Select Miraflores Hotel – Superior Room or similar.
    *Lima city is located at an altitude of 80 meters (262 feet) above sea level.

Day 02

23rd May 2020
  • Flight from Lima to Cusco (B, D)

    After an early breakfast, you will head to the airport for your flight to Cusco.
    In Cusco, after a brief with your guide about the upcoming hike, you will spend the rest of your day at your own pace, relaxing, acclimatizing, or exploring the alleys of the ancient Inca capital.
    In the evening, the group will re-assemble for a welcome dinner.

    Overnight in Cusco: Casa Andina Standard Cusco Plaza – Traditional Room or similar.
    *Cusco is located at an altitude of 3,400 meters (11,155 feet) above sea level.

Day 03

  • Your Inca trail adventure begins (B, L, D)

    After breakfast, you will go on a smooth, 30-min ride through the Inca Sacred Valley towards the trailhead at Km 82, where your Inca-trail adventure officially begins. There, you will meet your Quechua porters and cook: these Andes men who will ensure that the next few days will be a memorable – and safe – experience for you.

    On the first day, you will hike on a well-marked path, enjoying eucalyptus groves, outstanding views of the Urubamba River, the Vilcanota Mountain Range, the snow-capped peak of Veronica (19,102 ft./5,822m.), and the agricultural terraces in the Inca complex of Llaqtapata.

Day 04

  • Crossing over the Dead Woman’s Pass (B, L, D)

    The second day on the Inca trail is possibly the most challenging one as you will have to climb on a steep path for almost 4,000 feet (1,220 meters), to reach the Dead Woman’s Pass (at 13,780 feet/4,200 meters altitude). However, you will have the chance to enjoy the unparalleled beauty of the path, frequently shared with llamas and deer, and, at the top, you will experience a fulfilling sense of accomplishment.

    After crossing the Dead Woman’s Pass, you will descend following a rock-stepped path towards Pacaymayo valley (11,810 feet/3,600 meters), whereyou will rest for the night.

Day 05

  • Exploring the most picturesque part of the Royal Inca trail (B, L, D)

    After a hearty breakfast, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape, you will begin your third day on the Inca trail: maybe the most picturesque part of the path.

    You will start with a one-hour climb to the circular ruins of Runkurakay, which are believed to be a resting place for Incan couriers during the Inca times. Then, you will head towards the Runkurakay Pass (12,960 feet/3,950 meters), where you will enjoy stunning views of the snowcapped mountains of Vilcabamba range.

    Next stop is the “inaccessible town” of Sayacmarca, a well-preserved mysterious Inca complex (11,772 feet/3,588 meters) whose raison-d-etre remains elusive but its beauty is spectacular.

    As the day unfolds, the trail becomes more and more delightful. You will cross an impressive Inca tunnel dug through solid rock, and the third pass, Phuyupatamarka (12,140 feet/3,700 meters), with stunning views of Salkantay and Veronica Snowcapped Mountains, before reaching the “Cloud-Level Town” of Phuyupatamarka, one of the most impressive archaeological Inca centers.

    Finally, you will camp near Wiñaywayna (8,829 feet/2,691 meters), the most spectacular archaeological complex of the entire Inca Trail.

Day 06

  • At Machu Picchu (B, L)

    Today is the grand finale of this life-changing adventure on the footsteps of the pilgrims towards Machu Picchu. You will start your descent at the early morning hours, and when you reach the “Sun Gate”, you will see for the first time, from above, the “lost city” of Machu Picchu.

    After one more hour of hiking, you will arrive at Machu Picchu: one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites on earth.

    Private Machu Picchu tour (2.5 hours)
    This impressive Inca city is full of mysteries and monuments. With the help of an experienced guide, you will learn about its history, who lived here, how it was discovered in the 20th century, and why the Spaniards never found it. You will gain insights into the various features of the sacred city and you will immerse in its meditative ambience.
    In the end, you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) where you will enjoy lunch and maybe a quick tour around this picturesque little town.
    After lunch, you will take the train towards Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley.

Day 07

28th May 2020
  • Zip-line adventure in the Sacred Valley(B, L)

    After breakfast, you will drive to Pachar, the starting point of your ziplining adventure.
    The Sacred Valley zipline allowsall visitors to fly over this magnificent area in a safe and fun way. This zipline has 7 lines or cables, from 150mt to 700mt, for a total of 2800mt.
    You will start with a 30-40-minute hike, and then you will go on a small (4 meters) Via Ferrata climb.

    Each line is different from the other so you will start with an easy and short one, and the circuit will allow you to upgrade on the way. You will enjoy a three-hour zip-lining adventure, before driving back to your hotel in Ollantaytambotorelax.

    Optional activity: Horseback riding adventure in the Sacred Valley.

Day 08

  • Whitewater rafting on the Urubamba River/Exploring Cusco and the nearby Inca Ruins (B, D)

    After breakfast, you will drive again to Pachar, this time for a whitewater rafting adventure on the Urubamba River.

    Upon arrival, all participants will be given a safety briefing by the guide, including paddling commands, capsize drills, and actions when overboard. Participants will be provided with helmets, wetsuits, splash jackets and a personal flotation device.

    The rafting adventure will start on tranquil waters surrounded by beautiful mountains and archaeological remains, before heading to Ollantaytambo and its amazing Inca terraces. On the way, you will enjoy class II-III rapids, and you will finish by “El Resbaladero” (“the slide”), a great class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools.You will end by the Cachiccata community located a few minutes away from the Ollantaytambo village.
    After your rafting adventure, you will be driven to your hotel in Ollantaytambo to collect your luggage and then drive to Cusco.

    Cusco City and nearby Inca Ruins (private tour)
    In the afternoon, you will enjoy a guided tour around Cusco (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), visiting its most remarkable landmarks. Yourjourneywill start with a stroll around the main attractions of the ancient Inca capital: its main square known as Plaza de Armas, and the 16th-century Cathedral that boasts an impressive collection of more than 400 paintings from the Cusco art school dating to the 16th and 17th century.

    The tour includes a visit to the most impressive of the Inca temples:Koricancha, known as the Temple of the Sun. During the Inca times, the walls of this temple were lined with sheets of solid gold, and its courtyard was decorated with golden statues and ornaments.You will finish with a visit to the Santo Domingo Church built by the Spanish colonists, before moving outside the city for an exploration of a series of other famous Inca monuments.

    First, you will head to Sacsayhuaman, an amazing Inca fortress whose main walls, built with massive stones, are perfectly fitted. You will learn more about the Incas’ secrets, before continuing to Qenko,Puca Pucara (an Inca lodging site), and Tambo Machay (known as the Baths of the Inca).

    Farewell dinner in the evening.

Day 09

30th May 2020
  • Flight from Cusco to Lima/ Departure from Lima. Or Optional Extension to the Amazon River. (B)

    In the morning, you will head to the airport for your return to Lima. There, you may either catch with your flight back homeor continue your Peruvian adventure, spending a few days in the Amazon Rainforest.
    Recommended international flight: after 6 pm.

Day 09

30th May 2020
  • Flight from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado (B ,L, D)

    Early morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Cusco airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado city. 
At Puerto Maldonado, you will be welcomed by the local Rahhalah guide who will take you to the Refugio Amazonas Lodge office where you will register, leave the excess luggage in a safe deposit and then depart for the Tambopata River Port (inInfierno), to take the boat to the Refugio Amazonas Lodge, located inside Tambopata Reserve. During your boat trip, you will enjoy a box lunch.

    Estimated boat-ride time: 2.5 hrs.
    Upon arrival at Refugio Amazonas, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you on important navigation and security tips.
    Please note that your guide will always provide you with any necessary information prior to every excursion. Your itinerary may be modified due to weather conditions that may affect access to certain areas.

    After dinner, you will enjoy a caiman search, walking by the river’s edge, scanning the banks with headlamps and flashlights to catch the red gleams of reflection on caiman eyes.

Day 10

  • Oxbow Lake - Canopy Tower - Ethnobotanical Tour (B ,L, D)

    After breakfast, you will paddle around the lake on a canoe or catamaran, looking for lakeside wildlife such as hoatzin, caiman, and horned screamers, hoping to see otters and macaws as well.

    A thirty-minute walk from the Refugio Amazonas leads to the 25-meter scaffolding canopy tower. The tower has been built on high ground, enhancing thus your view of the rainforest forest up until the Tambopata National Reserve. From there you will see toucans, macaws and raptors.

    After lunch, you will visit a farm owned and managed by Don Manuel from the community of Condenado. He grows a variety of popular and exotic Amazon crops.

    Late in the afternoon, you will enjoy an ethnobotanical tour packed with interesting information about the variety of plants and trees (like Ajo-Sacha, Yuca de Venado, Uña de Gato, Charcot-Sacha, Para-Para, to name but a few) that are used by the local population for medicinal purposes.

    After dinner, there will be a presentation about ecotourism projects in the Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 11

  • Boat ride from Refugio Amazonas to Puerto Maldonado city/ Flight from Puerto Maldonado city to Lima City/ Departure (B)

    After breakfast, you will head to the airport of Puerto Maldonado city to fly to Lima (after retrieving your luggage from the Refugio Amazonas Lodge).

    Upon arrival at Lima airport, follow the signs for the baggage claim area, after collecting your luggage you will be in the domestic arrivals area, where our staff will meet and assist you with your international flight check-in.

    Note: it is recommended that your international departure flights should be after 6 pm.
