Day 01

6th June 19
  • Arrival Lima

    After your flight lands at Lima Jorge Chavez airport, follow the signs for immigration, then walk to the baggage claim area, and then get to customs. After clearing customs, you will be in the International arrivals area, where our staff, who will be holding a sign with Rahhalah logo, will welcome you and drive you to your hotel located in Miraflores, the nicest and safest area of Lima, facing the Pacific Ocean!
    Private transfer from Lima airport to your hotel/Estimated driving time from Airport to Hotel: forty-five minutes.
    Upon arrival at your hotel, our staff will assist you with your hotel check-in and all you may need. You and our staff will schedule your pre-tour meeting.

Day 02

    This morning you are picked up from your hotel and start your adventure in Lima city. Your day starts with a short visit to a local Market, where you will learn about Peruvian fruits, potatoes, vegetables, fish and other ingredients used in the local Cuisine.
    After your learning experience with Peruvian Gastronomy, you will be driven to the city of the Kings and explore its beautiful monuments, Colonial houses adorned with Moorish-style balconies, main Plazas like San Martin and Plaza de Armas, a view of the baroque cathedral, the Governors Palace, the Archbishop's Palace with its big carved wooden balconies, and a guided visit inside the convent of San Francisco, home to the largest collection of religious art in the Americas. Underneath the convent lie extensive catacombs that served as a cemetery during the colonial period.
    Your tour includes a visit to the beautiful olive tree park and “Park of Love” where you will have a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. After your Lima tour, your guide will be happy to recommend you a nice Restaurant for lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean!
    Free afternoon to explore Miraflores parks and markets.
    Welcome Dinner
    This evening you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to a Peruvian Restaurant to enjoy dinner.
    After dinner you will be driven back to your hotel
    Please notice that your Amazon adventure starts tomorrow. It is recommended to pack, in a duffel bag or one suitcase, only clothes you will need during your Amazon trip and a daypack with mosquito spray, sunblock, water bottle, raincoat or rain poncho, sunglasses, sun hat and personal medicine. Your excess luggage will be stored in your Amazon Lodge in Puerto Maldonado.

Day 03

  • Flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado. Posada Amazonas (B,L,D)

    Early morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Lima airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado city. You will be assisted with your flight check-in, baggage drop-off, and then escorted to the entrance to the security check area.
    Notice that gates and departure times may change, please check the airport monitors.
    Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport, follow the signs for the baggage claim area, after collecting your luggage you will be in the arrivals area, where our staff, whowill be holding a sign with Rahhalah logo, will welcome you.
    Private transfer from Puerto Maldonado airport to Refugio Amazonas Lodge office
    Our staff will drive you to your Amazon Lodge office in town, where you will register, enjoy your first taste of the forest in the gardens, leave the excess luggage in a safe deposit and then leave Puerto Maldonado, we drive 20 kilometers to the Tambopata River Port, located in the Native Community of Infierno.
    Boat ride from Infierno Community to Refugio Amazonas Lodge
    Estimated boat ride time: two hours and thirty minutes
    You will board a boat and start your trip to Refugio Amazonas Lodge located inside Tambopata Reserve. During your boat trip you will enjoy a box lunch.
    Upon arrival at Refugio Amazonas, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips.
    Please notice that guide will provide you with the necessary information in advance of every excursion. Your itinerary may be modified due to seasonal weather conditions that may affect the access to certain areas.
    Caiman Search
    After dinner we will walk by the river’s edge scanning the shores with headlamps and flashlights to catch the red gleams of reflection from caiman eyes.

Day 04

9th June 19
  • Oxbow Lake - Canopy Tower - Ethnobotanical Tour (B, L, D)

    After breakfast, we will paddle around the lake on a canoe or a catamaran, looking for lakeside wildlife such as hoatzin, caiman and horned screamers, hoping to see otters and macaws.
    A thirty-minute walk from Refugio Amazonas leads to the 25-meter scaffolding canopy tower. The tower has been built upon high ground, therefore increasing your horizon of the continuous primary forest extending out towards the Tambopata National Reserve. From here you will see toucans, macaws and raptors.

    After lunch, we will visit a farm owned and managed by Don Manuel from the community of Condenado. He grows a variety of popular and unknown Amazon crops.
    Late afternoon we will have an ethno botanical tour and learn about the variety of plants and trees that are used by the local population as medicine like Ajo-Sacha, Yuca de Venado, Uña de Gato, Charcot-Sacha, Para-Para, among several others.
    After dinner, there will be a presentation about ecotourism projects in Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 05

  • Boat ride from Refugio Amazonas to Puerto Maldonado city/ Flight to Cusco ( B)

    We retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures.

    Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, you will be drivento Refugio Amazonas Lodge, collect your excess luggage and then driven to the airport. You will be assisted with your flight check-in and baggage drop-off, then escorted to the entrance to the security check area.

Day 06

    This afternoon, you are picked up from your hotel and embark on a memorable experience visiting the beautiful city of Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
    You tour starts with a smooth walk to the main attractions of this Inca city, its main square known as Plaza de Armas, then the Cusco Cathedral which construction started in 1559 and has an impressive unique collection of more than 400 paintings from Cusco school made during the 16th and 17th century. Next, you walk through the narrow Inca streets close the Plaza and appreciate the massive Inca walls which are the foundations of Cusco city.
    Your tour includes a visit to the most impressive Inca temples, Koricancha, which is known as the temple of the sun. During the Inca time, the walls of this temple were lined in sheets of solid gold and its courtyard was decorated with statues and ornaments of gold! You tour includes a visit to Santo Domingo Church built by the Spanish colonists.
    After visiting the city of Cusco, we will head to Sacsayhuaman, an amazing Inca fortress which main walls perfectly fitted, were built with massive stones. You will learn more about the Incas’ secrets, we continue to Qenko, site of carved living rock then to Puca Pucara, an Inca lodging Site and finally Tambo Machay, known as the Baths of the Inca. At the end, you will have an amazing view of the Inca city and surrounding areas.
    Please notice that your Inca trail trek to Machu Picchu starts tomorrow. it is recommended to pack only what you will need during your Inca trail trek to Machu Picchu, your excess luggage will be stored in your hotel storage.

Day 07

  • Embark on your Inca trail Adventure (B, L,D)

    Estimated hiking time: six hours

    Finally, the day to start your lifetime adventure on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu has come, this morning you are picked up by your guide from your hotel, and embark on a smooth ride through the spectacular sacred valley of the Incas, after a thirty-minute journey we arrive at the trailhead at Km 82, we meet our Inca trail crew of Quechua porters and Cook, these gentlemen of the Andes will do their best for you to have a safe and memorable experience.
    Today, we will have a six-hour hike on a well-marked path, enjoying the eucalyptus groves, outstanding views of Urubamba River, the Vilcanota Mountain Range, the snow-capped peak of Veronica (19,102 ft./5,822m.) and the agricultural terraces in the Inca complex of Llaqtapata.

Day 08

  • Reaching the top of the Dead Woman’s Pass is achievable and rewarding ( B, L, D)

    Today may be the most challenging day of your Inca trail adventure, we will climb steeply almost 4,000 feet (1,220 meters), but no worries your guide and Inca trail crew will ensure you have a safe and unique experience.
    Before setting off on our second day on the Inca trail, we will have a nutritious breakfast that will give us sufficient fuel and energy to reach the top of the Dead Woman’s Pass (13,780 feet/4,200 meters). If you need to push yourself, keep an eye on the prize, there are no words to describe the overwhelming sense of accomplishment that you will feel when reaching the top of the Dead Woman’s Pass. You will have breathtaking views of the thick forest, snowcapped peaks and the Inca trail.
    After crossing the Dead Woman’s Pass, we start descending along a rock stepped trail to Pacaymayo valley (11,810 feet/3,600 meters), our campsite for tonight.

Day 09

  • Beautiful Andean scenery while walking on the Royal Inca trail ( B, L, D)

    Today is going to be a great day, we will have to reach only two mountain passes, easier than the Dead Woman’s pass, cross the cloud forest and visit amazing Inca sites.
    We have a hearty breakfast while enjoying the beautiful views of the clouds over the mountains, then we set off on our third day on the Inca trail.
    We start with a one-hour climb to the circular ruins of Runkurakay, it is believed it was a resting place for Incan couriers during Inca times. After visiting this Inca site, we continue climbing for almost one hour towards Runkurakay Pass (12,960 feet/3,950 meters) here we will have breathtaking views of the snowcapped mountains of Vilcabamba range.
    We continue our hike down to the “inaccessible town” of Sayacmarca, a well preserved mysterious Inca complex (11,772 feet/3,588 meters), no-one knows what this Inca site was built for but you will enjoy it much.
    Now the trail climbs down to the valley floor, beautiful orchids start appearing while we walk on the Inca road. The trail starts to climb again, we will pass through the Inca tunnel that traverses solid rock; it is so impressive how the Incas built these roads along the mountains and rainforest. After passing the tunnel, the trail leads up to the third pass, we reach Phuyupatamarka (12,140 feet/3,700 meters), now it is a great opportunity to enjoy stunning views of Salkantay and Veronica Snowcapped Mountains.
    After crossing our third mountain Pass, we reach the “Cloud-Level Town” of Phuyupatamarka , one of the most impressive archaeological Inca centers.
    Finally, we camp near Wiñaywayna (8,829 feet/2,691 meters), the most spectacular archaeological complex of the entire Inca Trail.

Day 10

15th June
  • You made it! Finally, in Machu Picchu

    Estimated hiking time: four hours
    Today is the most exciting day of your life-changing Adventure on the Inca trail! We will wake up very early, have another hearty breakfast and head to the “Sun Gate” where you will enjoy your first sight of the “lost city” of Machu Picchu. You may want to spend some time sitting and overlooking Machu Picchu, what a wonderful view!
    Then, we hike down for just one hour and arrive in Machu Picchu, one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites on earth!
    Machu Picchu Tour
    You will enjoy a guided tour of the most amazing Inca city in the Americas and learn about the history of this site. You will have some insight into the various features of this sacred city and have free time to enjoy yourself!

    13:00 p.m. Lunch at Tinkuy Restaurant located at the Sanctuary Lodge.
    After lunch time, you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night.
    Overnight in Aguas Calientes at Hatun Inti Classic – Standard Room
    Meals included: Breakfast and Lunchyou are picked up from your hotel and transported to Cusco airport to board your morning flight to Juliaca city.

    Upon arrival at Juliaca airport your guide will meet and greet you, he will be holding a sign with Rahhalah logo, and drive to your hotel on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

  • Machu Picchu- Ollantaytambo (B)

    Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo train station, you will be met by our staff, he will be holding a sign with Rahhalah logo, and driven to your hotel.

Day 12

17th June 19
  • Whitewater rafting on the Urubamba River and Horseback riding Adventure in the sacred valley (B, L)

    Hotel pick-up time: 09:00 a.m./Estimated rafting time: two hours
    This morning you are picked up from your hotel and driven to Pachar village the starting point of our whitewater rafting adventure on the Urbamba River.
    Upon arrival, all participants will be given a safety briefing by our river guide. The briefing touch on paddling commands, capsize drills and actions when overboard; participants will be provided with Helmets, wetsuits, splash jackets and personal flotation device.
    Once everyone is ready, we start with a quick practice on the calm parts of the river, our adventure starts on easy water surrounded by beautiful mountains and archaeological remains, then we head to Ollantaytambo and its amazing Inca terraces, on the way we will enjoy class II-III rapids and finish by “El Resbaladero” (The Slide), a great class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools. We finish our adventure by Cachiccata community located a few minutes to Olantaytambo village.
    Horseback riding Adventure in the sacred valley
    Starting time: 14:00 p.m./Estimated horseback ride time: two hours
    This afternoon, you will enjoy great views of the sacred valley surrounded by mountains, eucalyptus trees and passing thru small Quechua villages. The horseback riding level is easy and safe.
    After your horseback riding tour, you will be driven to your hotel in Ollantaytambo.
