Day 01

  • Arrival Lima

    After your flight lands at Lima Jorge Chavez airport, follow the signs for immigration, then walk to the baggage claim area, and then get to customs. After clearing customs, you will be in the International arrivals area, where our staff, who will be holding a sign with Rahhalah logo, will welcome you and drive you to your hotel located in Miraflores, the nicest and safest area of Lima, facing the Pacific Ocean!

    Upon arrival at your hotel, our staff will assist you with your hotel check-in and all you may need. You and our staff will schedule your pre-tour meeting.

Day 02

  • Private Lima Experience (B, D)

    Hotel pickup time: 09:00 a.m.

    This morning you are picked up from your hotel and start your adventure in Lima city. Your day starts with a short visit to a local Market, where you will learn about Peruvian fruits, potatoes, vegetables, fish and other ingredients used in the local Cuisine.

    After your learning experience with Peruvian Gastronomy, you will be driven to the city of the Kings and explore its beautiful monuments, Colonial houses adorned with Moorish-style balconies, main Plazas like San Martin and Plaza de Armas, a view of the baroque cathedral, the Governors Palace, the Archbishop's Palace with its big carved wooden balconies, and a guided visit inside the convent of San Francisco, home to the largest collection of religious art in the Americas. Underneath the convent lie extensive catacombs that served as a cemetery during the colonial period.

    Your tour includes a visit to the beautiful olive tree park and “Park of Love” where you will have a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. After your Lima tour, your guide will be happy to recommend you a nice Restaurant for lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean!

    Free afternoon to explore Miraflores parks and markets.

    Welcome Dinner

    This evening you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to a Peruvian Restaurant to enjoy dinner.

    After dinner you will be driven back to your hotel

    Note: Please notice that your Amazon adventure starts tomorrow. It is recommended to pack, in a duffel bag or one suitcase, only clothes you will need during your Amazon trip and a daypack with mosquito spray, sunblock, water bottle, raincoat or rain poncho, sunglasses, sun hat and personal medicine. Your excess luggage will be stored in your Amazon Lodge in Puerto Maldonado.

Day 03

  • Flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado- Amazon ( B, L, D)

    Early morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Lima airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado city. You will be assisted with your flight check-in, baggage drop-off, and then escorted to the entrance to the security check area.

    Notice that gates and departure times may change, please check the airport monitors.

    Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport, follow the signs for the baggage claim area, after collecting your luggage you will be in the arrivals area, where our staff, who will be holding a sign with Rahhalah logo, will welcome you.

    Estimated driving time from Airport to lodge office: ten minutes

    Our staff will drive you to your Amazon Lodge office in town, where you will register,enjoy your first taste of the forest in the gardens, leave the excess luggage in a safe deposit and then leave Puerto Maldonado, we drive 20 kilometers to the Tambopata River Port, located in the Native Community of Infierno.

    Boat ride from Infierno Community to Refugio Amazonas Lodge

    Estimated boat ride time: two hours and thirty minutes

    You will board a boat and start your trip to Refugio Amazonas Lodge located inside Tambopata Reserve. During your boat trip you will enjoy a box lunch.

    Upon arrival at Refugio Amazonas, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips.

    Please notice that guide will provide you with the necessary information in advance of every excursion. Your itinerary may be modified due to seasonal weather conditions that may affect the access to certain areas.

    Caiman Search

    After dinner we will walk by the river’s edge scanning the shores with headlamps and flashlights to catch the red gleams of reflection from caiman eyes.

Day 04

  • Oxbow Lake - Canopy Tower - Ethnobotanical Tour (B, L, D)

    After breakfast, we will paddle around the lake on a canoe or a catamaran, looking for lakeside wildlife such as hoatzin, caiman and horned screamers, hoping to see otters and macaws.

    A thirty-minute walk from Refugio Amazonas leads to the 25-meter scaffolding canopy tower. The tower has been built upon high ground, therefore increasing your horizon of the continuous primary forest extending out towards the Tambopata National Reserve.  From here you will see toucans, macaws and raptors.

    After lunch, we will visit a farm owned and managed by Don Manuel from the community of Condenado. He grows a variety of popular and unknown Amazon crops. 

    Late afternoon we will have an ethno botanical tour and learn about the variety of plants and trees that are used by the local population as medicine like Ajo-Sacha, Yuca de Venado, Uña de Gato, Charcot-Sacha, Para-Para, among several others.

    After dinner, there will be a presentation about ecotourism projects in Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 05

  • Boat ride from Refugio Amazonas to Puerto Maldonado city ( B)

    We retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures.

    Flight from Puerto Maldonado city to Cusco city

    Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, you will be drivento Refugio Amazonas Lodge, collect your excess luggage and then driven to the airport. You will be assisted with your flight check-in and baggage drop-off, then escorted to the entrance to the security check area.

    Upon arrival at Cusco airport, follow the signs for the baggage claim area, after collecting your luggage you will be in the arrivals area, where our staff will welcome you, he will be holding a sign with Rahhalah logo.

    Our staff will drive you to your hotel located in the center of Cusco. 

    Upon arrival at your hotel, our staff will assist you with your hotel check-in and all you may need. You and our staff will schedule your pre-Inca trail trek meeting.

Day 06

  • Explore Cusco ( B)

    Free morning to explore Cusco at your leisure

    Private Cusco City and nearby Inca Ruins Tour

    This afternoon, you are picked up from your hotel and embark on a memorable experience visiting the beautiful city of Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

    You tour starts with a smooth walk to the main attractions of this Inca city, its main square known as Plaza de Armas, then the Cusco Cathedral which construction started in 1559 and has an impressive unique collection of more than 400 paintings from Cusco school made during the 16th and 17th century. Next, you walk through the narrow Inca streets close the Plaza and appreciate the massive Inca walls which are the foundations of Cusco city.

    Your tour includes a visit to the most impressive Inca temples, Koricancha, which is known as the temple of the sun. During the Inca time, the walls of this temple were lined in sheets of solid gold and its courtyard was decorated with statues and ornaments of gold! You tour includes a visit to Santo Domingo Church built by the Spanish colonists.

    After visiting the city of Cusco, we will head to Sacsayhuaman, an amazing Inca fortress which main walls perfectly fitted, were built with massive stones. You will learn more about the Incas’ secrets, we continue to Qenko, site of carved living rock then to Puca Pucara, an Inca lodging Site and finally Tambo Machay, known as the Baths of the Inca. At the end, you will have an amazing view of the Inca city and surrounding areas.

    Please notice that tomorrow you will be travelling in the sacred valley and Machu Picchu. it is recommended to pack only what you will need during these days;your excess luggage will be stored in your hotel storage.

Day 07

  • Whitewater rafting on the Urubamba River/ Horseback riding Adventure in the sacred valley ( B, L)

    Hotel pick-up time: 09:00 a.m.

    Estimated rafting time: two hours

    This morning you are picked up from your hotel and driven to Pachar village the starting point of our whitewater rafting adventure on the Urbamba River.

    Upon arrival, all participants will be given a safety briefing by our river guide. The briefing touch on paddling commands, capsize drills and actions when overboard; participants will be provided with Helmets, wetsuits, splash jackets and personal flotation device.

    Once everyone is ready, we start with a quick practice on the calm parts of the river, our adventure starts on easy water surrounded by beautiful mountains and archaeological remains, then we head to Ollantaytambo and its amazing Inca terraces, on the way we will enjoy class II-III rapids and finish by “El Resbaladero” (The Slide), a great class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools. We finish our adventure by Cachiccata community located a few minutes to Olantaytambo village.

    Horseback riding Adventure in the sacred valley

    Starting time: 14:00 p.m.

    Estimated horseback ride time: two hours

    This afternoon, you will enjoy great views of the sacred valley surrounded by mountains, eucalyptus trees and passing thru small Quechua villages. The horseback riding level is easy and safe.

    After your horseback riding tour, you will be driven to your hotel in Ollantaytambo.

Day 08

  • Pumamarka and Markaccocha ( B, L)

    Today we begin the visit with a walk appreciating the millenary culture and walking through the archeological sites of the Incas in Pumamarka and Markaccocha. During the walk, a family will teach us about medicinal plants, their healing properties and about wild flora and fauna. Additionally you can learn words in quechua. When reaching the archeological site of Marcaccocha we will begin the day doing a ritual to our spirits that will grant us pass and will protect us. Accompanied with the traditional dance “wallata” and music. Finally, a family will wait for us with the traditional dish “pachamanca” done in the heat of preheated stones, based on alpaca meat, native potato, oca, año, vegetable salad and muña tea. You can also participate in traditional games like Sinkuy.

Day 09

  • Zip-line in the Sacred Valley/ Biking in the sacred valley ( B)

    After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and have a short drive to Pachar village, the starting point of a unique lifetime adventure in the sacred valley!

    The Sacred Valley zip-line gives people of all ages the opportunity to fly over this magical and magnificent valley, in a safe and fun way. The zip line has 7 lines or cables, from 150mt to 700mt, for a total of 2800mt.

    You will start with a 30-40-minute hike, the you will have a small via ferrata climb (four meters) so you can have a good idea of climbing a ferrata route.

    Each line is different from the other, you will start with an easy and short one and the circuit will allow you to upgrade your zipline expertise. You will enjoy a three-hour zip-lining adventure, then we drive you back to your hotel in Ollantaytambo where you can have lunch.

    Biking in the sacred valley

    MTB Difficulty level: moderately easy

    This afternoon you will have a biking adventure in the sacred valley.Our ride will start in Cachiccata communityon a mostly flat path with some short climbs and descents with easy obstacles. During your biking adventure you will enjoy great views of the sacred valley, surrounded by mountains, eucalyptus trees and passing thru small Quechua villages. After one hour or more time we will reach Sillkinpunta bridge, from here we will make our way back to Cachiccata community. After your biking tour you will be driven back to your hotel in Ollantaytambo.

Day 10

  • Vista dome train journey from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu ( B)

    Am. After breakfast you will be transferred to the train station to board the vista dome train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).

    Upon arrival at Machu Picchu train station, you will be welcomed by your hotel staff and escorted to your hotel. Free afternoon to explore Machu Picchu Pueblo.

Day 11

  • Machu Picchu ( B, L)

    After a very early breakfast, you will be met by your guide and have a 25-minute bus journey to Machu Picchu where your private English-speaking guide will embark you on an adventure of a lifetime that brings you back to the 15th century.

    Machu Picchu to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate)

    Estimated hiking distance: 2 miles/3 kilometers

    Estimated hiking time: one hour (one way)

    Upon arrival in Machu Picchu, you will hike to the Sun Gate from where you will enjoy an amazing sight of the “lost city” of Machu Picchu.  You may want to spend some time sitting and overlooking Machu Picchu, what a wonderful view!

    Then, we hike down for just one hour and arrive in Machu Picchu, one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites on earth!

    After lunch, you will enjoy a guided tour of the most amazing and mysterious of all Inca Sites, you will learn about the history of this site, who lived there, how it was discovered in modern times and why the Spaniards never found it.

    You will have some insight into the various features of the city and after that, you will have some free time to really enjoy yourself alone in this spectacularly located site, a lifetime experience that will stay with you forever!

    After your Machu Picchu adventure, you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes.
