Overview

Mount Ararat is a snow-capped, dormant volcanic cone and the highest mountain in Turkey (5,137m). Its summit is located 16 kms west of Iran and 32kms south of the Armenian border. Biblical accounts narrate that this is the place where Noah's Ark came to rest. The climbing season is from June to September (July and August are the best months).

Itinerary Details

Day 1 (24th July 2026): Arrival at Agri or Igdir and transfer to Dogubayazit (D)

Upon your arrival at the airport of Agri or Igdir, you will be welcomed by a Rahhalah representative and you will be transferred to your hotel in Dogubayazit, where you will meet your mountain guide who will brief you about the next days.
Dinner in a local restaurant.

Note: one group airport transfer is arranged from Agri. Additional transfers can be arranged at an extra cost.

Accommodation: Tehran Boutique hotel, Dogubayazit or similar.

Day 2 (25th July 2026): Reaching Camp 1: Yesil Yayala Base Camp (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Cevirme Village (altitude: 2200 m). From there, you will hike to the Yesil Yayala Base Camp (elevation: 3200 m.), while the equipment will be transferred by pack animals. At the camp, you will relax with hot tea and then enjoy a well-earned meal.

Trekking time: 3.5-5 hours (depending on the pace of the group).

Overnight in tents, Camp 1.

Day 3 (26th July 2026): Acclimatization (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will go for an acclimatization hike up to Camp 2 (altitude: 4200 m.), and you will return to Camp 1 (3200 m) for the night.

Trekking time: 6-7 hours.

Overnight in tents, Camp 1

Day 4 (27th July 2026): Camp 2 (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will hike again to Camp 2 (at 4200 m.) while all equipment will be transferred by pack animals. At the camp, you will have an early dinner as you will start your summit hike at 2am the next morning.

Hiking time: 3.5-4.5 hours.

Overnight in tents, Camp 2.

Day 5 (28th July 2026): Summit Day (B, L)

This will be a long day as you will start hiking very early in the morning (1 or 2 a.m.). After 5-7 hours, you will reach the summit of Mount Ararat at 5,137 meters. Note that, depending on snow conditions, crampons may be needed for the last 200-300 meters.

Afterwards, you will return to Camp 2 at 4200 m (2-3 hours of hiking), where you will rest and have lunch. If the group is very tired, you will spend the night in Camp 2. Otherwise, you will pack your gear and descend to Camp 1.

Afterwards we return to Camp 2 at 4200 m (what takes 2-3 hours), we have a rest, eat meal and pack equipment. Then we start to descent to Camp 1.
From Camp 1 we will continue descent to Cevirme village, where minibuses will wait for us.
Descent from Camp 2 to Cevirme village can take aprox. 5-7 hours.
Drive back to Dogubayazit.
Overnight at the hotel.

Hiking time:
From Camp 2 to the summit: 5-7 hours.
From summit to Camp 2: 2-3 hours.
From Camp 2 to Cevirme village: around 5-7 hours.

Day 6 (29th July 2026): Departure from Agri or Igdir (B)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport of Agri or Igdir for your departure flights back home.

Note: one group airport transfer to the airport in Agri is included in the price. Additional transfers can be arranged at an extra cost.

This cost is based on Double Occupancy. Single Supplement cost amounts to 400 USD per person.
All services stipulated above are subject to availability at the time of booking/reservation.

The above cost is valid for a group of min 8 travelers. Rahhalah reserves the right to change the price if the trip runs with a smaller group.
If you are a single traveler and left by default in a single accommodation, a single supplement surcharge may apply.

Group transfer from Dogubayazit to Mount Ararat and back.

Pack animals for the equipment’s transportation on the mountain.
2 nights Hotel accommodation at Tehran Boutique hotel, Dogubayazit (double occupancy).
Dinner on the first and last day (Day 1, and Day 5).
All meals and soft drinks during the climb with cooking service.
Sleeping mattresses and one tent for every 2 people.
Climbing permits.

Important: The itinerary and schedule are subject to change due to weather, road challenges or operating conditions. At any moment, the guide has the RIGHT to change the program for the safety and convenience of the travelers.

Also, the trip's price does not cover expenses that may occur due to conditions beyond Rahhalah's control (force majeure). Such cases include but are not limited to extreme weather conditions, flight cancellations or delays, and natural phenomena (earthquakes, volcano eruptions, hurricanes, etc.). We, the Rahhalah team, both in our HQ and on the ground, will do our best to assist you with alternative arrangements (like new accommodation and/or transportation arrangements, revised itinerary and activities etc.), but ALL NEW COSTS incurred because of force majeure are to be covered by the traveler.

We strongly recommend that, before your departure, you purchase travel insurance that covers trip cancellation costs, loss of baggage or personal items, medical emergencies, and other unexpected circumstances that cannot be controlled by Rahhalah or any traveler.
